I haven't read this entire thread, but I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed how many empty seats there are at some of these games. Looks bad for the NCAA on TV. I'm watching Maryland/Memphis at the moment and it looks like they sat everyone in half the building on one end of the court.

I have noticed that and was gonna say something if it continued into the other rounds.
I think for the most part it is because of the area. Boise looks to be the worst as far as crowds are concerned. I'm guessing people assume their team will make it through and with the economy won't want to travel to the Far away games to see their teams beat up on the Radford's and Robert Morris's. Thats the only explanation i can come up with. Down economy + Long distances= less crowds. I was REALLY suprised to see less fans at the Ohio St. game last night against Siena, it was in DAYTON, OH for cryin out loud. you can't drive an hour to go see your team play?

Well, they divide the sides into 4 sections and then give a section to each school who's playing in that 2 game "pod". Like in '04, I got to see Texas Tech/Charlotte play before the LU/St Joe game. Sometimes the fans of the team who isn't playing yet or who has already played don't watch the other game. I don't really know why not. I assume the rest of the seats are GA and if it's a true neutral court, nobody locally is gonna care to buy them.
