I put this in the chapel because im more meaning books about Christianity, not novels, just so I can try and learn some more authors to check out, share some of the ones I enjoy and whatnot.

Also, if there is one book, other than the Bible, you would recommend to someone, what is it.

I read alot of books at the same time just because I have A.D.D. and reading is my favorite hobby, im not trying to be boastful in typing out 6 books here, I genuinely am reading all of them.

Believe it or not, I had not read John Eldredge's Wild at Heart until a mens group at my church started a discussion of it this spring.

I picked up a copy of Hank Hanegaard's new 21st Century edition of Christianity in Crisis. He hammers prosperity theology as well as any I have read.

The leadership team at my church are all reading the Leadership Challenge. I've gotten through 2 chapters and I have week to read rest of book before we discuss it as a group. As a result the first two are taking backseat in shortterm.

Tim Keller: Reason for God: Belief in the Age of Skepticism, which is pretty decent (although some have gone so far as to say this guy is the next CS Lewis, which he is not.)
The Last TV Evangelist by Phil Cooke, good book about how TV ministers are a dying breed because of scandals / poor programming, and how they need to rebuild themselves to reach the next generation
Straw: Finding My Way by Darryl Strawberry (advanced copy), an autobiography and he talks about finding God. I guess that counts.

I'm reading history right now, but the last Christian book I read was 'Teach Me To Pray' by Andrew Murray. Awesome book, and the chapters are short enough that it can easily be used as a devotional.

That UnChristian book, last night I was reading about how the majority of 16-29 year olds understand the gospel, they can tell you what it is even though they themselves are not saved and dont believe it. The reason they are not saved, for the most part, is not because they dont understand the gospel, but rather, because Christians dont live it out. Anyone have any thoughts to discuss about that and how we could apply it to evangelism and/or youth ministries?

I've got a copy of Andy Stanley's new book The Principle of the Path: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be coming from Amazon. Not sure how Christian it actually is - sounds like it's more of a self-help book, almost like a Purpose Driven Life kinds of thing. But I'm getting it free, so I'm not complaining.

The last Christian book I read was Heaven Misplaced by Doug Wilson, but I don't really recommend it at all. It's a defense of amillenialism (and possibly a form of Christian universalism as well). It was also free, so at least I wasn't out any money for it.

I'm getting ready to re-read Shepherding the Small Church: A Leadership Guide for the Majority of Today's Churches by Glenn Daman. Had to pay for that one, but it was worth it.

I love what Rob Bell has to say in his mini-Bible studies (NOOMA). but his politics are a different story

for me its getting to be some of his other beliefs about things. But thats what initially held me off from reading this book. I didnt want it to be a book just about how Christians help the poor, because yes, we should, but helping the poor doesnt make you a christian, your a christian and helping the poor flows from a response.

But the first four or five chapters of this book havent been like that, just a really crazy study of the old testament story and Jesus fitting into it, alot of great stuff. But I feel now i may be entering into the part where he is saying christians suck because we dont help the poor enough. I mean alot of it is true, but yeah, wont go into it all.

I'm in the the middle of Don't Wast Your Life by John Piper. So far I have enjoyed it.

I'm also reading Worldliness by C.J. Mahaney. First thought it was about legalism, but its not at all. Its been a very good read.

My girlfriend got a copy of Vernon Brewers book he handed out at convo on friday, entitled "Defining Moments" she gave it to me today because we went to starbucks and I forgot to grab a book to read, and I have like ten pages left in it. I Highly Recommend the book to everyone, its a great read and its really easy to read. Even if you hate reading, its easy to read. Its just like 3 or 4 page chapters that are sometimes connected other times not so much, but all just stories of something happening to him and him not understanding, and how it turned out for great things with the basic point of let God be in control and dont just assume the impossible is impossible(in a nutshell, but he writes much better)
