What other sport could #1 beat #5 75-36 after having let off the gas halfway through the 2nd half? Terrible.

What about the girl that guaranteed a national championship and if they didn't get one she would pay back for her scholarship?! Is she from UConn?

I think she goes to Oklahoma. Hopefully, it's not an expensive school.

Did anyone catch the Western Carolina vs. College of Charleston conference championship game though? Went to triple overtime with WCU finally coming out on top after a long and hard fought battle (and if you were looking carefully you would have been able to spot our friend JK37 adding his coaching skills to the mix!).

From what they said on ESPN yesterday, her entire scholarship package - tuition, fees, room, board and books - is valued at $64,000/year. I don't know how they came up with that figure but they said that was approximately what she'd have to pay back.

I thought that was the cost for all 4 years - but I could be wrong. And, it was Courtney Paris and she's the daughter of "Bubba" Paris, NFL great, so I think they have plenty on money to pay that bill when she loses. She's really good, but UCONN is unbeatable this year...

"They" don't have money. Her dad has money.................................. maybe. It definately should not be assumed that because someone played pro ball that they are set for life. There are lots of stories. As far as I know, Bubba is doing fine, but I don't think Courtney is planning to hit him up for it. I believe her quote was "I don't care how long it takes, I'm going to pay it back".

It seems like a noble gesture on the surface, but to me it actually sounds really presumtuous (sp?). It's like she's saying "I'm too good to play 4 years and not win a national championship". In fact, she is very good, but could be much better if she got a handle on her weight. She is not close to being the best player in the country, and her team is not close to being the best team. UConn already beat them by 30 this year, and they will do it again if they meet in the tourney. I'm sure Oklahoma will not accept repayment of the schollie as such, but I guess if she's stupid enough to do it, she could make donations to the school.

Olldflame has a good handle on this story. And I do believe the $64k figure has to be four years at OU. And I don't believe she was saying she'd pay back all four years but I could be wrong.

You don't think that Bubba's making donations to the school already? Let's face it - she is blowing smoke. She will give some back to the school, but she will never pay back her full tuition.

She will make money at the next level.

If by next level you mean Russia, I could see it.

She'll play in the WNBA (if it stays in business, which is not a sure thing at this point). If that goes under, there's money to be made overseas, but we're definately not talking NBA $$.

Sly hit the nail on the head: many oligarchs in Russia are paying BIG money for female basketball players. (SI did an article on it in December, but I couldn't find a link.)Players play in WNBA for US exposure, then play over there during offseason for much bigger money. However, the solidarity of such cash is dwindling due to Russia's current economic woes based on the plummet of oil prices.

Put succinctly, Paris could make a more than enough money playing pro ball to pay back her 4-year scholarship, in-full.

Actually, if they had beaten our ladies by that much, I don't think you'd hear a peep out of anybody for blowing us out. Per ESPN
UConn's tournament dominance was just a carry over from the regular season. The Huskies have won by an average of 31 points and been especially good against ranked teams.

They demolished No. 3 Oklahoma by 28 at home in late November, routed No. 11 North Carolina on the road by 30 and took care of Louisville by 28 the first time they met in late January. Throw in victories over Pittsburgh and Notre Dame and the Huskies have beaten Top 25 teams by nearly 30 points a game.
I really don't think they can help it. They could probably play the end of the bench and still do that.

If you ask me this is a sneaky way for a Conn fan to point out they beat a #5 team by that much....just saying

I mean really you should have just started it off with "We crushed a team that's only ranked 4 spots below us, we're the best at everything we do and everyone else sucks at life....and we wont give money back to the state b/c of that fact"

Mmmm, no. If I cared in any way, I would have made a thread about when they pounded UNC and directed it at thesportscritic.
