Bc those guys can get those same shots later in the shot clock. Any possession that we don't try to get Ant, Kyle, or Seth a look is a wasted possession. This is my opinion, only tho. I just think anytime we're in the halfcourt it's important to try to involve those guys. There were a couple times I wish Bake would have showed more iniatitive, but him being hesitant early in the possession isn't necessarily a bad thing. That would have played right into VMI's strategy to not guard them. I got bad news, Brolin can't score. He just can't right now. Stephene I don't have an opinion on. Immensely talented with the basketball, but no basketball IQ. Spencer was just overmatched. Lonon and Kenon were soo much better than him and Stephene and that was a huge, huge difference.
Can I also mention that I am extremely tired of watching Seth get held on every single possession. I don't have a problem with it, bc it's going to happen, we know this. But when he's getting grabbed and held everytime he moves and we're getting called for handchecks, then I take issue with that. Not any kind of excuse, just a complaint I had.
VMI was better than us. Simple. Without Jesse they had better PG play (kenon/lonon). The twins played very well, despite foul trouble. They just out-athleted us and we didn't have an answer for their run. We were dog tired with 10:30 to play. Seth and Ant, particularly, were having to do everything offensively. They were breaking the press, getting us in our offense, and then working to try and create and get shots. Add that to the fact they were playing hard on the other end and that's just too much for them to do. Ant was a man tonight, tho. Kyle, I like him and hate him. Curry, just never was able to get involved in the 2nd half. We defended extremely well for about 24 minutes and then they got hot and we miscommunicated a couple times, mainly guys off the bench. It happens, we're young and we had some odd lineup combinations tonight, for various reasons. Best 5 minutes of offense for us were the first 5 minutes of the game. Then Jesse disappeared and it was a struggle the rest of the night. Great year. I'm excited for next year. We're going to be deeper, more athletic, and more experienced. We have enough good players on the roster and coming in to force competition. That breeds success. I like where we are headed. I'd love to sneak into the NIT or CBI, we'll see if we can.
