He hasn't been doing his gig for a long time now. It seems like it was always Fred Thompson or Paul Harvey Jr. I always thought he must be ancient. I also always thought he should stop doing Paul Harvey News also. It was/is terrible.

I heard it the other day and they were still running commercials he had voiced. He sounded close to the end even in the preproduced spots.

Take it easy on him, guys. Back in the day he was the real deal. You just caught him way past his prime.

I grew up listening to Paul Harvey - I always enjoyed him, and the rest of the story.

Despite my terrible pun in the title of this thread, I actually did enjoy him during my younger years. My dad got me started listening to him.

Paul Harvey was a legend. God speed.

You should really check out his two books, which are compilations of his work... excellent reads.

I saw a picture of him speaking at TRBC in the 70's. Don't know much about him other than listening to his radio program years ago which was great.

I first started hearing Paul Harvey last semester. I really enjoyed hearing "the rest of the story". As an up and coming broadcaster myself having a legend like that to listen to and learn from really meant a lot. Probably one of the highlights of my life came in my COMS 454 Radio News class when Dr Windsor said that I reminded him of him. To be mentioned in the same sentence as one of the longest running radio broadcasters ever was extremely humbling. I pray all the best to the Harvey family

This is a common thing to say. I've never understood it. Isn't that the opposite of humbling?

It can be. Some folks will let it go to their head and be like "My teacher said I sounded like Paul Harvey..." and get all hoity toity and high and mighty about it. I always hated hearing myself when I would have to go back and listen to my own recordings. Its weird when people said I remind them of someone. I simply want to make a name for myself.
