I'm almost positive that we will give a good account of ourselves this game. Maybe a win, but definitely a good showing.

With Jesse back, a dose of humble pie, the Mckay preparation a big "w" is in sight. Or at least a competitive 2nd half.

This is a big game for LU. Staying out of the 1-4 matchup and getting VMI back again in the semi finals! Speaking of VMI, I must weigh in on a few things in the now closed thread from Tuesday night:

That was easily the toughest game I ever called. It was so surreal to see the Flames get pounded in the Vines. The last time I had to call a game like that Jack Leasure was a Soph and CCU went on a shooting spree.

The exchanges between Ritchie and Jason Allison made me uncomfortable but sad too. The VMI/Liberty rivalry used to be friendly in my eyes but it got ugly. I have a great time talking to the Holmes/Blair family relatives for the past 6 years. Really good people with a lot of hoops talent in the family. Going to several VMI games a year and interacting with the coaches there has been a lot of fun for me. Now if they were Radford it would be different for me. I couldn't even cheer for coach Jeri Wiley at Radford and we are close friends. Let me just say that I know Jason very well and I was pretty close to all the action obviously and to me it was a case of misunderstanding. I will get accused of taking up for my boy Jason which is true. But it is also true that Jason was not taunting anyone like it seems to have been taken. I know the details but that is not important. For me I just hope Jason and Ritchie get to talk soon and get the whole thing straightened out.

As for running up the score, I think many of us on here have sounded like sore losers and very soft. We should take our lumps like men and be determined not to let it happen again. I know in football there are ways to slow down and run the clock out. The truth is if that were a football game on Tuesday, VMI would have been running the ball and still scoring. It seemed like they got hot at the end of the game and it snowballed but IMO I thought the effort defensively for Liberty was not there. Not only that, the offense because of the situation was not very good and that is what led to the score. It had nothing to do with trying to show anyone up. That thought didn't even cross my mind when calling the game.

As far as VMI trapping at the end of the game like someone stated, I really think they were just doing what they did the whole game and that was running and jumping Seth, Anthony and Kyle to make them give up the ball. It was a really solid game plan. Truth is, people have been playing VMI that way with Chavis and Austin Kenon being denied the ball and trapped. VMI and Liberty run similar offenses on the half court and without Jesse, Liberty had little flow. The other thing I noticed is VMI wasn't giving up easy layups from Liberty breaking their full court press. They protected their basket well while still playing fast.

Ritchie looked like he adjusted to the fact that the others weren't being guarded but they missed some shots early in the second half and lost their concentration at the FT Line which caused the score to bulg out more.

Anyway, I have never seen Ritchie so angry. He was spitting fire and I hope his team responds to that competitive fire he has on Saturday. Liberty needs to win this game and send a message.

College hoops is not like football guys. Expect Radford to treat this game like any other. They are going to try to win it and will not be "resting starters". I would be shocked if that happens.

You were close. In your opinion, what do you think happened? All I saw was RMK mad.

I'm actually kinda glad that Duggar didn't have the sense to pull back. It was ill-advised and awkward to say the least, and virtually unprecedented when a much more meaningful match-up with the same opponent may be a mere week away.

I really think that he got swept away in the moment, kinda like Dunton when he prematurely threw his clipboard out onto the court in adulation in what appeared to be his first D1 win, only to draw a technical, and end up the loser.

Heading into the tourney, VMI was the team that concerned me the most, but right now I can't wait to see them again. And when it's all said and done they may have done us a huge favor. We'll have to wait and see how it all plays out.

According to the radio show at Applebee's tonight, McKay has LEFT LYNCHBURG.

He's on a "recruiting visit" to Florida. Anybody know who's down there that he's looking at?

Wouldn't surprise me if it was Van Der Pol.

As sad as that makes me, I'd rather him not play than get hurt worse. And I just noticed this game is at 6:00, not 7:00.

Radford is trying for a REDOUT on SAT night, so all the LU fans need to find something WHITE to upset the colors there!\

Hey we just need to man up and take it you Radford. After two lackluster performances I am confident a rebound is about 30 hours away.

Since Vander Pol has already signed, I wouldn't think Richie would take time to travel to Florida just to hang with him. There are no doubt one or more prospects for 2010 he wants to visit, and if he's close enough, it would certainly make sense to stop bye and meet with Joel.

So, Brolin has a brother who is a prospect? Anyone have any information on him?
