how about liberty beats vmi in the semi's so we dont have to worry about that, thanks :D
We're gonna pull some strings and get Dwight Howard one game of eligibility and have him play against RU. Don't pull too hard for us. :)

after a performance like that it's almost better just to say nothing. It's never as bad as it looks in the bad times or as good as it looks in the good times. Very frustrating night all in all. Three things that really hurt is FT%, not having Jesse, and inability of the other 2 players on the floor to hit shots whoever they were all night. Teams simply overplay Seth, Kyle, and Smitty. Now it's time for us to adjust or settle for 3rd or 4th this year if we cant make adjustments.

You can tell that the other guys on the team just don't wanna score most of the time. Tyler and Johnny hesitate like crazy when they have an open look at a 3. Austin has to be thinking "Don't foul, don't foul" every time he takes a step, and Brolin just seems to disappear at times on the offensive end... and when he is there and trying he gets his shot blocked or misses an easy one half the time.

All these guys are good players, don't get me wrong. But I have to believe they lack the confidence to step up and score when we need them to. Which might be why Austin is playing more, because he IS able to score when we need him to. His problem is being inconsistent and often times lost on defense, plus his foul issues.

VMI obviously studied our play. They stole the ball almost eveytime we did the hand-off pick play we run, and yet we still continuosly ran that play. They also obviously know who can shoot on our team and who can't. They wust know our defense quite well too.

I believe that RMK was yelling at Duggar about the score, and then took some issue with Jason -possibly unwarranted.
I also believe that he was still upset with Jason after the game, and voiced the same.

He's probably over it by now. I was listening, not watching, but I would think it best not to have to be restrained by a couple of the refs. Again, I was listening, not watching. (ive probably been upset once or twice myself)

It's a tough loss, and 2nd would have sounded good, but there's still a lot more basketball on the table.

Great crowd for the game, but they should have been there at the beginning for the seniors, and at the end, for the seniors & everybody.

Probably not a night when RMK will sleep well- & maybe not Barber either, but it's not over yet. This can be forgotten with a small 3-game-win-streak in the BS.

It was a big regular season game, with a lot riding on it, and for that, it's too bad.

But for the BS - it actually may not mean too much in the end.

Now that was a real whuppin. We have played two decent teams this week and got smacked. Maybe Jesse is worth some points but we just lost two games by over 60 pts. Radford just went in and beat this VMI team. We beat them when Travis Holmes was out. I sure we will all feel better after a big w at Radford on Saturday.

It appears that RM didnt have a problem with Duggar at all but rather Jason and his celebrating after each 3 with the lead they had

No Mckay was first hollering at Duggar. Like Duggar should call the dogs off. That is embarrassing. McKay needs to take his spankings like a man.

Excuse me? Take his spankings like a man? First off he was getting ticked at Jason for celebrating. And second Even if it was at Dugger The man was up 40 with 5 to play letting Keith Gabriel and Austin Kenon shoot from where ever the heck they wanted to. If you ask me thats a classless act. we gave it to Dugger after the game. If you seriously were running the double team on Seth while you are up 40 something is wrong. I've kept quiet all night but this is over the line. When you can get out and coach a DI mid major to 20 wins give me a call.

Do you feel like Duggar didn't give RMK the respect that he deserves, considering his resume? As far as Jason goes, he's always seemed to be a good guy. Wouldn't you expect coaches to cheer in a game that was going to be a huge victory for either one or the other?
It's always a question (I think) as to who should pull their starters first. If I'm beating you, and you concede, then I should call off the dogs. But if you are still trying to beat me, than I have the right & obligation to make sure I beat you.
Having said that, when you get to the 40 point range, it may be time to show a little pity.

Ritchie has done a good job this year, with not that many loses, just that some of the loses have been the kind that bring attention, and maybe it just got to him a bit. There wil be other days... with all he's done, it seems like the guys in the
BS should respect him.

LU is Jason's alma mater. In no way shape or form should he be happy about taking his alma mater to the wood shed by 40 and STILL RUNNING A DOUBLE TEAM PRESS ON CURRY WHILE JACKING UP THREE'S. Respect RMK as a fellow basketball coach. not for his resmue not for what he's done in the W column but as a fellow basketball coach in general. When you are up 40 for YOUR OWN sake pull your freakin starters. Not only for respect of the opposing team but out of caution to keep them from getting hurt. thats an automatic no brainer in that situation. Jason and dugger seemed content to just let their guys go at it with now mercy. I believe in military terms thats giving NO quarter. with all do respect to VMI who did a great job studying us tonight they should have shown a little more class than they did tonight. I respected their alma mater every time i've been at Cameron. I've always respected the fans and cadets, especially the ones going into the military to serve our country but tonight they moved up into the Radford catagory of Loathing in my book. talk about semantics all you want. It was a classless coaching job at the end of the game by dugger and believe me we let him and the VMI players know it. I pray we see them in the tourney. this loss is just what we needed. A punch in the mouth. a bit of reality. Ant is mad, seth is mad, the whole team is mad. NOT a good idea to tick off a team like us right before the tourney.I hope seth and ant combine for 50 points sat.

And before i go to bed tonight. I'd like to send a message to all the Liberty fans who left (including the some on this board) and the fans who sat on their (explicative)'s all night and didn't get up and cheer their team on..... You should be ashamed of yourselves. you weren't there when your teem needed you most. Way to quit. you know what they say about quitters? They NEVER win and WINNERS never quit. FAN the Frickin Flames and Beat the **** out of Radford. Goodnight.

Wow it is a classlass act to bring in a team on a three game losing streak and beat an opponent by 37? We have 20 wins but our RPI strength of schedule is 305. Four non's on the schedule and two provisional games. We have one win against a D1 with a winning D1 record outside the BS. The Big South is as weak as it has been top to bottom.

I hope we beat Radford and win the BS tourney, but less be realistic about the schedule and not just drink the kool aid.

The coaches at VMI get paid to win games. I am sure that no one in Lexington Va thought it was classless. Rather they may think we are sorry losers.

I know I am going to get heat for this...but when a team doesn't bring any energy at all to a game that means a ton how can you expect the fans to do anything but that?

I am all about supporting the team and I hate when I hear home fans booing their own team, but the team showed no heart tonight and did not deserve to be cheered...

I love this team and think we have a bright future...I knew it was just a matter of time before somebody trashed on the fans...a lot of nights I would've agreed with you...but not on this one...

Disagree... Their Alum were shouting VMI before tip off and it was never countered.

that is true about before the game...you're right about that

I am talking more about throughout the entire game itself...there were times it seemed like people wanted to get into it...then they would get lulled back into sleep by the laziness our guys were showing...

like I said, I know my opinion won't be a popular one...but when you show no heart you can't expect fans to do the same

This team definetly needs Jesse back. He was an assist and rebound away from a triple-double when we played at VMI and won earlier. He assisted Seth to a 35pt performance and Anthony to 20 plus. Jesse is an exceptional backcourt leader and a big-time difference maker in terms of winning.

All I can say is, Jesse will be back by the post-season, and I'm sure that this team and this coach can't wait to go back to Cameron Hall and and eliminate VMI.

I really thought that VMI had all of the leverage heading into this one, and could have maintained it into the next LU match-up with just a basic solid win. But they obviously wanted more and they may live to regret it.

Confucious says: "never bury a team that you will likely see again, especially if that team can beat you."

Our fans (in general) are a joke. They react to what's happening on the floor as opposed to trying to give the guys a boost. At the under 8 media timeout in the first half we were down seven. At the under 4 media timeout in the first half we were down five. If the crowd comes out of that time out energetic, giving the guys something to feed off us, who's to say those guys don't take that energy and step it up on defense. You see that happen at every other school in the country. When the opponent goes on a run at good schools, the fans don't stop cheering. They start cheering even louder. They create an environment instead of waiting for something to cheer for.

Yes, I left. I didn't leave because of what was going on down on the court. That had nothing to do with me leaving. Over the last two weeks I have had the Alumni Association and the coaching staff personally ask if we (The LUnatics) could try and get more people involved in the game so we can have a louder, more energetic crowd. At the under four media in the first half, we sent some guys out to other sections (like we were specifically asked to do) to try and get more people involved. They came back immediately saying they heard some of the rudest things they'd ever heard and that it was coming from our fans. At halftime, I decided instead of sending the other guys out, I would go to a different section and try to get things started. While we were trying to do that, I heard worse things than I have heard at any other school I've ever been to and heard it coming from our own fans. Coach McKay's daughter and Jeff Barber's daughter were right next to me standing up and cheering. Our own fans were yelling at those girls to sit down and get out of their way. These girls are teenagers at best and our fans are yelling at them. After being told to a) move and b) sit down by game management (after being asked to move to the section I went to) I had finally had enough. I felt like I was wasting my time, and I left. I was more mad than I have been in a long time and instead of doing or saying something stupid, I left. Last night was the most frustrating time I've ever had at a game and I was embarrassed to be a Liberty fan because of these people. They're an absolute joke. We had two other kids, both freshmen, leave because of the stuff people said to them for trying to get people to cheer. That's the culture we're creating. We will never reach the "big time" when our fans act like middle school girls basketball fans.

Jon, I saw where you were sitting and all. What did the folks you were sitting with say about what happened?
The people around me thought I was crazy as my son and I stood up yelling, clapping, and cheering. I just kept doing it and mocking the VMI fans who had infiltrated behind me.

I don't know, I think that's fairly typical of the "adults" in most fan bases. They like to sit and clap, and get annoyed when people in front of them stand. It's been that way at every arena I've been at. I sit with the big kids and I definitely feel like I'm in somebody's way when I get excited and stand. But in the first half, when we were still in the game, it was dead silent at times. That's a joke on every type of fan's part. You're never gonna get the Baptist side to be loud. But that's what students are for. Maybe you could convince the whole student section to spread around the bottom instead of just on one side. The fogies can't yell at all of them. Although that would require students showing up before tipoff to secure the seats.

I agree LUConn everywhere you go the majority of the older fans sit and watch fairly quietly. I don't think LU is the exception.
