OLNEY - February 14, 2009 (WPVI) -- Officer John Pawlowski was shot and killed in the Olney section of the city the night before Valentine's Day.
"It is my sad duty to report on the death of Philadelphia Police Officer John Pawlowski who was killed in the line of duty today, February 13," Commissioner Charles Ramsey said as he began the press conference.
25-year-old John Pawlowski was shot and killed Friday night at approximately 8:44 p.m., despite wearing a bulletproof vest.
Chief Ramsey wrote:"It makes absolutely no sense that we've got people with this mind set walking the streets, not only endangering police officers but the public at large," Ramsey said. "Lock them up. Throw away the key. ... There are some people that are just not salvageable, period."
He is the sixth officer killed in the line of duty within the last 16 months.
another funeral. Please pray for Officer Pawlowski's family and all of us- his brothers - on the job

Praying not only for the fallen officer's family but yours as well, Medic. I'm sure they don't take this news well either.

Horrible irony - Officer Pawlowski was honored for heroism (disarming a thug on a bus) Wednesday night - shot dead by another thug Friday night......

services on Friday. Same time as usual. Which is truly sad, just to say that.

will be a long day again as we basically shut down lower Bucks and a large portion of I-95, Vine Street and the Ben Franklin Parkway for the procession.

please pray for the safety of all involved and , above all- peace for John's family.

hey medic, how many has that been this year already? Mayor Nutter has a huge problem on his hands. Over here in Chester County, we've had our problems with the Arsons and copycats. The crime spree's are getting bad in this section of PA.

John Pawlowski's portrait was back on a table by a Municipal Court bench in the 35th Police District yesterday, a day after a judge set off a firestorm of protests from police when he turned the picture of the slain officer facedown.
As officers continued to simmer over Judge Craig M. Washington's action, another judge - William A. Meehan - took Washington's place in the dual courtroom/police roll-call room.

The judge originally ordered the photo to be removed. Everyone in the courtroom refused the judge's order so the judge got down from the bench and turned the photo facedown in front of a shocked courtroom.

John is the first Philly cop this year, Chris Jones from Bucks was the other guy we lost in 2009, and its a total of 7 now within the last 1-1/2 or so
