Charlotte Observer wrote:Brother, what a day for Currys
Family makes 40-mile trip from Davidson to Winthrop to watch hoops-playing siblings

Saturday was quite a day for Charlotte's first family of basketball.

For seven hours, there were Curry flurries falling all over area courts.

First it was Stephen Curry, the older brother, scoring his 2,000th career point for Davidson – but getting a scare when he turned his ankle – in an easy home win against Samford. Then it was little brother Seth Curry, visiting with his Liberty Flames, scoring 18 but losing a thriller at Winthrop.

In between there was a caravan of more than 30 Curry family members led by patriarch Dell Curry – the boys' father and a former Charlotte Hornets star. The Currys shuttled between the two campuses, which are about 40 miles apart. Sonya Curry, the boys' mother, changed from a Davidson to a Liberty jersey between games. Most of the Curry clan went to Outback Steakhouse in the down time between the two games – Stephen's tipped off at 2p.m. and Seth's at 7p.m. It was a tight squeeze, but the Currys usually have impeccable timing. Dell Curry threw open the doors to Winthrop Coliseum just as the official tossed up the ball for the opening tip.

With 304 points, Curry is now the 5th leading freshman scorer in Flames history. He passed Karl Hess, Liberty's all-time leading scorer, Saturday at Winthrop. Next on the list is David Dees, who has 347 points in 33 games in 2004.
Any idea who is listed 1st-3rd in freshman scoring?

J.R. Nicholas?
Norman Simmons?
What about the freshman Hank brought in who could shoot the lights out?

George Sweet in the first year of our program is #1 for sure. Injuries and changed priorities had him over the hill by his sophomore year. I'd guess LB is up there, and probably Willard DeShazor. Hess didn't start as a freshman.

Larry Blair is #1. Seth should catch him in about 6 or 7 games.

George Sweet scored 524 points his freshman year in 1973, averaging 20.8 per game. Blair scored 437 in 2004, averaging only 13.2, but playing several more games. DeShazor is 3rd with 363 in 1974, averaging 15.7.

Len Elmore was just giving his top midmajors and he said "My dark dark horse is... Liberty. Only because they've got a guy by the name of Curry, and we've seen what the other curry can do."

That must be the wrong link. I have a copy of this year's media guide and it lists LB as #1.

In conference play Seth is averaging 16.5 ppg, shooting 29.93% from the field, and 23.72% from 3. Compare that to his non-conference games where he is averaging 21.08 ppg, while shooting 49.42% from the field, and 43.66% from 3.

If your referring to Eisentrout with the shoot the lights out comment, youve got some selective memory.
