of course it would.

I think each LUPD vehicle carries one...and there is one at each athletic facility and on site for practices and games. They are definitely NOT in evidence on walls throughout campus like you would think, though.
(BTW...where is Medic? He's usually standing tall on a thread like this)
I'm back: skip a few days and look what I miss
and you're right- they need to be IN the buildings- there aren't enough cops to go around.

Dear SHUCKS:
1. cost has come down- only 1400 to 1800 ea, and less if you're buying in quantity. Also less if you are a non-profit or educational institution. Also, hundreds are donated annually by corporations- several years ago, every PD in my area that wanted some got them .
2. ask Prof Jean's family what price would've been too much. For that matter, ask ANY 18 yr old's family. Have you ever delivered a death notification to a grieving family? Try reassuring them that everything possible was done- then admitting you wanted to save a few bucks on life saving defibrillation technology.
3. you're talking out your posterior when it comes to the "hooligan" comments. I'm assuming you got your prehospital advanced life support training by watching E.R. AED's don't just fire arbitrarily. They are ALL semi-automatic, meaning they will not discharge without prompting the user to MANUALLY trigger the device- and that ONLY after a SHOCKABLE rhythm has been detected. The alogorithms programmed into the machines will NOT allow a NORMAL SINUS heart rhythm to be shocked.
Never let the facts get in the way of making your point, I guess.
LU is playing Russian Roulette every day they fail to put an ALS ambulance in service on a campus of 12k (+)
the least they could do is put AED's in each building.
not enough tragedy yet to motivate anyone, I guess.
