But the guy for the hundredth time did not use the n word. I know I asked. I know exactly what he said but it is not my place to discuss his personal business. The point is that this will not be a big PR issue. I know a number of Liberty athletes that have had children out of wedlock before they came to the school which is certainly against our schools mission and I never saw it on the front page of the paper. As long as there is no problem within the locker room I cannot see this being a big deal at all. The guys that have met him except him and think he's a great guy so that is the real issue. I was going to bring up the Vince situation and glad to see someone else did. The coaches would not have pursued this guy if they did not recieve a vote of confidence from his coaches at Texas and I would say they know this guys character better than anybody they have been with him for three years. This in no way can hurt our chances of getting in the playoffs thats stupid. They are looking at records not rosters. If we beat WVU and JMU and go undefeated it wouldn't matter if we had Rush Limbaugh on the team we would still get in.
I remember when this story first came out. What a stupid, stupid thing for someone to do. I actually googled him a few min ago and found an article that had exactly what he had on facebook (allegedly..). Though he did not type the n-word out, he used symbols in place of letters for everything except for the "er" on the end. In any case, even when I first heard about this, I didn't think it was something he should have been kicked off of the team for. Yes, I'm sure it was offensive to some people, but there are kids who are out here doing things that are much worse. If he's a racist or not, who really cares? He isn't the first, and surely wont be the last. Give the kid a chance, everyone deserves a second chance.
And for those worried about the negative publicity, who cares? LU had plenty of negative publicity for years when Dr. Falwell was alive and it continues a little now from time to time. The bottom line is, people will say and write what they will, but what really matters is that the University continue it's mission "To develop Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge, and skills essential to impact tomorrow’s world."
