I think we all know how that turned out. :D
I miss that guy.

He's completely got his life turned around too and has his head on completely straight now. He may not have made a decision while at Liberty but the seed was planted here for him to make the decision when the time came.

Sure it could. And I don't see it helping us.

Also, it would only add to our difficulties in potentially moving up to a better conference.

Whatever happens...I trust Coach Rocoo, Jeff Barber, and the admin will make a decision which will be in the best interest of all parties. Who knows if we even offer....who knows if he would even come here if offered??

This could just be the most retarded thing you've ever said and that's saying something.
  • Firstly, the presence of a single player on the roster would have no bearing whatsoever on playoff discussion -- if anyone even remembered the incident at least a year after the fact.

Secondly, if you think a guy who played in the Big 12 South can't help us, you're smoking your own crack.

Thirdly, see point 1. Liberty is locked into the Big South right now for good or bad and that's not going to change in the two remaining years that this kid is eligible to play.

LOL

Question: If you LOL more then 3 times in a single post, does that mean you were giggling throughout? Giggling being the key word.

For what its worth, as a black person I am more incensed by paradox's statements on how admitting this guy into LU would isolate a segment of the black population of this campus and thus become a PR nightmare for the school and the administration. This guy is obviously sorry for what happened. I think that he at least deserves a chance to show that he is taking/has taken steps to make amends for the situation he got himself in. As I said before I would be first in line to welcome him to this school if he came (and apparently Dox would not touch that line with a 39 1/2 foot pole)

Ha no...Im just saying that if this guy decides to transfer here and is admitted, I think youd be the LAST person to welcome him here (considering the things you've said about that possibility already)

I'm just speculating about the administration and reputation of the school.

I haven't put much thought in personally encountering the guy. If I ever do encounter him, I'm certainly not gonna run up to the guy and say, 'hey man, you really got screwed by that whole facebook controversy."

As far as the reputation of our schools, people who hate us now are still going to hate us. They can use any other excuse or reason to hate us, so I am not worried about any pc fallout.
I don't know if this football player is white or black. And I don't know if he used the n word on facebook. With that being said, is the whole issue he is white and used the n word, would there had been this big ruckus if the player had been black and used the n word? I don't remember Jesse Jackson stepping down after he used the n word againist Barack. And if so, then would there had been a discussion on this board about allowing the player into this university?
Thanks

I hope we see this guy in a LU uniform next year! He can only help!

If anyone is going to hold what this guy did against him, after saying sorry for it, you are out of your mind. It is not our job to be the judges, leave that between him and the Lord.

2nd we shouldn't be worrying about LU PR, LU will take care of LU, I think this would be a great witness to this kid if he came here, and if he is already believer it will only increase his faith. That is what we are about 1st and foremost, Saving souls, and changing lives. Some of these comments are retarded... as a LU alumni and missions major it is sad to see some people not willing to be TOTALLY welcoming of this kid, past is past and let it be past.

Please lets get this thread back on topic, whether or not he is coming to LU.

I have been searching for any media related articles on this but have not found any maybe superjon can look them up while he is at "work" LOL. But the guy for the hundredth time did not use the n word. I know I asked. I know exactly what he said but it is not my place to discuss his personal business. The point is that this will not be a big PR issue. I know a number of Liberty athletes that have had children out of wedlock before they came to the school which is certainly against our schools mission and I never saw it on the front page of the paper. As long as there is no problem within the locker room I cannot see this being a big deal at all. The guys that have met him except him and think he's a great guy so that is the real issue. I was going to bring up the Vince situation and glad to see someone else did. The coaches would not have pursued this guy if they did not recieve a vote of confidence from his coaches at Texas and I would say they know this guys character better than anybody they have been with him for three years. This in no way can hurt our chances of getting in the playoffs thats stupid. They are looking at records not rosters. If we beat WVU and JMU and go undefeated it wouldn't matter if we had Rush Limbaugh on the team we would still get in.

I remember when this story first came out. What a stupid, stupid thing for someone to do. I actually googled him a few min ago and found an article that had exactly what he had on facebook (allegedly..). Though he did not type the n-word out, he used symbols in place of letters for everything except for the "er" on the end. In any case, even when I first heard about this, I didn't think it was something he should have been kicked off of the team for. Yes, I'm sure it was offensive to some people, but there are kids who are out here doing things that are much worse. If he's a racist or not, who really cares? He isn't the first, and surely wont be the last. Give the kid a chance, everyone deserves a second chance.

And for those worried about the negative publicity, who cares? LU had plenty of negative publicity for years when Dr. Falwell was alive and it continues a little now from time to time. The bottom line is, people will say and write what they will, but what really matters is that the University continue it's mission "To develop Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge, and skills essential to impact tomorrow’s world."

I totally disagree with you FlamingChick. If Buck was openly racist then I would stay as far a way from him as possible. He's not for the milionth time. I mean come on guys we are not nominating the guy for the Roc Rivera award we just want him to play football here.

Probably where you said if he's a racist or not, who cares?

I honestly wouldn't like it if we took a guy who is openly a racist, but we have done it before.

Oh ok, understandable. I should have phrased that better. Yeah, I wouldn't like that either if he was openly racist. Obviously, if he were openly racist, that would cause some problems on our team. My point was, there are so many racist people in the world, and this guy is saying that he isn't and even some of his black teammates have said he isnt, so people should let it go.

Yeah what he said. I was disagreeing on the part where you said it didnt matter if he was racist. I understand your point but I was just saying that from spending time with this guy thats not even an issue. I do agree with you here let it go.

Ok, so it does matter then. I'm glad you clarified that.

However, the fact remains that this guy may or may not have serious issues. But, how can anyone really claim to know that he has changed his ways when we are only a few short weeks removed from this incident?

.......Um getting to know him is normally a good way to find out. Obviously people here have, and I would think people involved with the process have. If people here are saying its just a misrepresentation of who he is, and the Coaching Staff is going after him, its probably safe to claim hes not a threat to anyone.

And I would think forgiveness would come with a time period before repentance
