I don't recall those offers for Brolin. But Seth had several offers. VT wanted him to come on his own nickel for a year and then they would give him a scholie for the last three. Clearly that is proving to be a very poor decision not to offer him a full ride by our Blacksburg friends.

At the scrimmage in the Multipurpose building, they listed all the schools that offered scholarships to Carter & Brolin, but I can't recall the individual schools right now.

Actually Greenberg did offer a scholarship at Tech, but he wanted him to redshirt this year. McKillop at Davidson also offered, but clearly Steph is the main guy there for the next two years. McKay basically gave him the keys to the car. That's why he's here.

McKay, McKillop, Greenberg, ect. obviously don't go by the rivals star ratings. Had Seth waited for a later signing period, he could have easily landed in the ACC as a starter. McKay was essentially rewarded for recognizing and committing to his talent early on.

Go to google.com and do an advance search for Seth Curry within the past 24 hours, make sure you have time though as it's already 3 pages long.

The world is starting to take notice. Keep up the good work Seth.

Great quote in the Waynesboro paper:
Curry, the brother of Davidson All-American Stephen Curry who was only offered a scholarship by Davidson and Liberty, seemed to toy with whomever Virginia stuck on him.

Greenberg offered at V-tech as well. He makes mention of it every time Seth's name comes up. Seth didn't want to reshirt, that's why he passed on Greenberg.

Actually he wanted to Seth to walk-on for one year with a promise of a 3-year scholarship after that. If Greenberg had've made Seth a priority by giving him a full scholarship we may not have him. Thankfully he only halfheartedly made an attempt and now he'll pay the price with his fanbase and his brother willpay the price with four years of beatdowns.

Virginia Tech coach Seth Greenberg, located at the Final Four in San Antonio, Texas, said he can remember standing at Charlotte Christian and offering a scholarship to Seth Curry with the provision that he would redshirt as a freshman.

I think that it was actually Stephen Curry that was offered an opportunity to walk-on at Virginia Tech. And then, Davidson came along and recruited Steph harder than anyone else, and ended up reeling him in.

Speaking of records, the school record for freshman scoring is 427 by Larry Blair. Seth would have to average 12.85 ppg from here on out to break that.

I can't find the source handy, but I believe we are stating the same thing. Greenberg claimed he had given away all of his scholarships for this season when he talked to Curry. Seth said he didn't want to redshirt so Greenberg said he could walk-on his freshman season and then he'd give him scholarship for final three years. At least that is what was being reported a year ago on Rivals and the Tech site.

Great quote from the article Dox posted:
Stephen didn't pass the eye test. Neither did Seth.

I heard Roy Williams briefly looked at Seth but passed on him as soft.
I believe they took Larry Drew #11 over him.

I love it and it is LU's gain.

we love Seth!

Question:

I like to assume that Seth, by virtue of him attending Liberty, is a Christian. Is his brother? Father? Do you have any news articles you can point to to verify this? If so, I'd like to pursue this story on a future edition of the 700 Club.

"Oh, that," Curry said. "It's Philippians 4:13. 'I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.' It's always been one of my favorite Bible verses. … I realize that what I do on the floor isn't a measure of my own strength. Having that there keeps me focused on the game, a constant reminder of who I'm playing for."
You're welcome. :P

I know that in and of itself does not point to him being a believer, but I am confident he is and that's the most reputable source online that I could find with a quote from him about his beliefs.

Stephen Curry is perhaps the most exciting player in the NCAA tournament this year. Many players point their fingers in the air to declare they are number one, but Curry points to God. ESPN reports that the phrase, “I can do all things…” is written on his shoes. The quote comes from Philippians 3:14 in the Bible.

Curry went to Charlotte Christian high school and his younger brother is committed to play at Liberty University. Not only that but his mother said in an interview with the Charlotte Observer that “We’ve always tried to live our lives saying, `How would Jesus have handled this?’ I think that has helped us all stay grounded and focused.”

Sports is a major source of pride for most athletes. They have a sense of entitlement, be it to a new sneaker deal or to a championship. Most athletes do not credit God as the source of their athletic abilities. It’s like plagiarism–you know not citing your sources. Thankfully there are people like Stephen Curry that are great athletes who aren’t afraid to credit God, because he is the one who gives them the ability to “do all things”.

Is the better Curry only a freshman?
That's the question BleacherReport.com raised Tuesday, and that was before Seth Curry, younger brother of Davidson All-American Stephon Curry, scored 26 points in Liberty's surprising 86-82 victory against Virginia. (Insert your 'Yes, Virginia' line here.)

They showed a graphic on the FTN broadcast tonight that Seth leads all freshmen across the country in scoring coming into tonight at 22.3 ppg. (should drop slightly after tonight)

This is one of the rare times when I view a win over the Flames as cool. I'll bet Steph was ready to shoot after the Loyola debacle.

I think we are beginning to see these numbers from Seth as a true pattern.
