There’s a reason why NCAA basketball heavily weighs how a team finishes it’s regular season and that’s simply it wants a team that will be clicking come tournament time. Liberty was rolling. Maine, W&M – not so much. Finishing strong should be a factor in the selection process. Obviously it’s not.

With Liberty, I saw a trip-up with Presby; with Maine, I see a pattern of losing. They showed over and over again that they could not beat a good team. That should not be rewarded. Liberty has done that and would have been a great story.

How could you not want to see what Rashad Jennings could do in the playoffs?

Why is there football in-breeding at this level?

Its the FCS way. Yet another reason why I want us to step up as soon as we are capable.

I can't begin to describe how proud I am of our guys. I hate seeing idiocy by the committee taint their season.

My thoughts exactly.

In fact I've loathed this sub-division and it's stupid little political commitees going as far back as the Sam era. How can we forget about the 9-2 LU team that went 2-2 against ranked opponents, but lost out to a 6-4 Idaho team that got knocked-out in the first round and ended up 6-5. Ever since then, my thoughts have been 1AA, what's the point?

The 97 team didn't deserve to get in. They didn't get snubbed. They didn't even have seven Division I wins.

Sly...we cannot even CONSIDER moving up when we cannot even get in the playoffs in I-AA.

I don't know which year that was, but the 9-2 team had a much better resume than this one. They had a much tougher schedule, and if I'm not mistaken, they beat a team that made it in. The outrage for that snub left a lingering bad taste in the mouths of many LU supporters. We just had to accept the fact that without conference affiliation, we simply were not going to get in. At least we'll have a shot, once the auto-bid comes into play.

Porque?

Let's save that discussion for a day when we all have cooler heads.

Noticeably silent since the selections were announced is the man who is supposed to be our representative in these matters .... Kyle, where are you? Wait, we probably don't want to know.

And Moose, what is stopping you from telling us what went down inside that room?

That was from "What About Bob"; one of Murry's less ballyhood films, but a fave of mine.

You need to read this entire article which gives the comments from the selection committee's chairman ...

And you thought the griping and hyperventilating about college football's postseason was confined to the Bowl Championship Series. Think again.

In the warm glow of the Colonial Athletic Association again hoarding half of the at-large berths in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, William and Mary sits outside on a park bench.
and here is where the UMass AD starts chiming in ...
"Numbers of wins, quality of wins," McCutcheon said. "Those are all things they look at."

Hopefully we have been able to talk to Moose to find out what really went down inside that room.

He said that the group began with five teams for the last spot: Maine, William and Mary, Jacksonville State, Elon and Liberty. They eventually trimmed it to three — believed to be Maine, W&M and Jacksonville State — and finally settled on Maine.

Hey guys. Franks Tanks from Lafayette. First of all congrats on the great win over Elon, what a way to close the season. Also let me say I do think you guys got hosed with the playoff selection. I really didnt think you guys would win, but instead you went out and crushed them. Elon would have likely made the playoffs with a win and therefore you should have made it with that win over a playoff caliber team. Perhaps the poor performance of Lafayette over the past few games was looked at, but that wasnt really fair. I exntend my condolences and look forward to seeing you guys in Easton next year for the rematch.

the 10-man committee spent a total of three hours Saturday and Sunday solely on the final playoff team
Three hours over two days? I can only assume the rest of the time was spent at "lunch".

By the way, the William & Mary fans are officially playing the "It's because our mascot is a Native American" card.

:rofl

Wasn't W&M originally founded to educate and evangelize the Indians? Maybe they should play that card, too.

I wonder if Jacksonville State will play the "It's because our mascot represents a barbaric bloodsport" card or FAMU will play the "It's because TV audiences can't look directly at our uniforms without going temporarily blind" card.
