won't matter who is in control when Obama sends the country straight towards another depression.

If things turn out as bad as conservatives predict...we could have another "Reagan Revolution" in 2012.

Man, don't turn on your TV for the next couple of days. The media is just showing orgasmic montages of Obama. They're really patting themselves on the back.

I agree with Fumble that Republicans themselves are to blame and Atrain as well - this was as much about conservative fundamentals as it was about the wars which have largely fallen off the radar.

Back in the summer of '06, in the midst of an ever expansive gov't, Republicans decided to roll out another flag burning amendment to rile up the troops before the mid-term elections. It was pure pandering and condescending to conservatives. McCain proposing in Oct the fed gov't buy all bad personal mortgages and re-write interest rates at the expense of other taxpayers (who pay their mortgages) led more conservatives to the sideline.

luckily for me all I have been doing for the past few months is watching sports. my marketing professor is as liberal as they get and i have marketing class tonight, but im just going to skip it since it will just amount to an obama worshiping service - thank god he is the only liberal in my mba program.

The war was no longer an issue after the surge was implemented, the war is won. The economy did not help McCain. We will see which way Barrack goes in office. Will he spend and break the economy and get the nation mad at him or not spend and get the left mad at him for not doing what he promised. Also how will he handle the next terrorist attack. Take Clinton's approach or Bush's

But how does the GOP take this? Do they realize that they've lost their conservative ways and that's why nobody is voting for them or do they think they need to be more "centrist" and that's what the voters are trying to tell them. Something tells me their too out of touch to realize it's the former.

You may be right Luconn. There's a big push, especially in the Northeast, by blue blood Republicans (economic conservative, cultural liberal - I call them country club elitists) to sway the party away from our ilk. Their arguments surround our inability to win the metropolitan suburbs in battleground states during the last 20 years. This is why I'm glad it was McCain who lost in the general and not someone like Huckabee so they can't blame conservatives but also why I did not support Huckabee in the first place.

He who wins the rust belt suburbs, tends to win the election.

What's really telling is that McCain did not win a single "must-win" state. Not one! I have a strong feeling that most conservatives stayed home this year. It's sad, but I can hardly blame them.

So someone mentioned that there are 18 Republicans up for re-election in two years. I hope that there are some outstanding new Republican challengers out there that can replace the stale candidates on the ballot. Like Ed Dantes. The primaries will be huge in a couple years, I hope the base pays attention.
