I hope people understand what they are seeing with this team...they began setting records at I believe 4-0 or 5-0....this team is really built for success and not for just right now...but the future.

That's a tough gym to walk into and walk out the victor

Love the uniforms -

Talked to Kelly after the JMU match - Woo Hoo!! another new record!
She and others were not feeling well at this match. :(

Let's get everyone praying for good health and safe trip to Kansas! They'll need everything they've got this weekend.

PS
Watched the JMU on video streaming - pretty poor video quality and the announcer kept calling the libero "jacobsma". But it was better then stat tracker! I checked KSU video link but it does not show our match on the schedule. Hopefully it will show up by Saturday. KSU gets $10 for theirs. I hope it's better quality.

i agree with you about jmu's live stats. it was pretty bad and it took long periods of time to even update the score.

Below is a scouting report on the Lady Flames from K-States website..........

Scouting the Lady Flames
Liberty advanced to its four NCAA Tournament last year claiming the Big South Conference regular season and tournament titles. The Lady Flames are led by Nicki Scripko at 3.09 kps and Kallie Corbin with 9.96 assists. Corbin was named the Big South Tournament MVP for her efforts in leading Liberty to its fourth conference title. Scripko was selected as the Big South Freshman of the Year as well.

The Lady Flames enter this weekend undefeated at 7-0 after winning two tournaments and defeating James Madison. The team is holding its opponents to a hitting percentage of just .165 while the Flames are hitting .281. Liberty is out-digging and -blocking its opponents as well and averaging more than two blocks a set.

The girls won the first two games 25-16 and 25-21. They lost game three 25-17. In game four they were 22 -17 and came back to win 26-24 to close them out 3-1. Now it's time for the big dogs.

This was not the prettiest match in the world to watch. We started out well, but our serve receive went into the tank for awhile, which made it very difficult for our offens to get going, which then put pressure on our defense. The way the girls pulled out Sets 2 and 4 was great. They never gave up in the face of adversity and came through when they had to. We watched 2 sets of the KSU/UNI match, and we must step up our game if we want to win against them. They are both tall and athletic. There are chinks in their armor that we can exploit, but only if we pass well enough to get our offense in sync. WE CAN DO IT!

The ladies just dropped three straight to Northern Iowa. I was following live stats and we definately outplayed them in the first 2 games but could not finish. We lead 9-1 in the first game and lost 25-23. Game 2 we were up 14-3 and 24-18 before losing 26-24. Game 3 was 13-13 before Northern Iowa ran off 6 straight and we lost 25-19.

Great job against KSU girls!!!

Not only did we take the second set. We broke their streak of aces in every match since 1998.

Great effort today girls :D

Today's paper had an article about Ashley Vogl. WMU senior middle was injured and is out for the season. It is unforturnate as she is a great athelete and wonderful girl. Nobody likes to see an athelete lose their senior season!!

They are very much like our team. Very young and very athletic. Aly Doyle was a Miss Volleyball runner-up and winner, and is now a soph at WMU. They are 9-1 with their only loss 3-2 to Wake Forest.

Loss of Vogl will hurt, she was their only senior and one of their starters. They only have a roster of 12 players so they are now down to 11. Moore and Eberling are their big hitters at 5'10" & 5'11" but they also get a lot of kills from 2-3 others.

From the WMU website
http://www.wmubroncos.com/ViewArticle.d ... ID=1579094
"BEST IN THE COUNTRY
After the first two weeks of the season, no team in NCAA Division I is better at finishing points than Western Michigan. The Broncos lead the country with 15.50 kills per set, rank third in assists per set (13.75) and 31st in attack percentage (.275).

PICKING IT UP
After the first two weeks of the season, WMU is the top defensive team in the MAC with the top opponent’s attack percentage (.099) and second in digs per set (16.69), which is also 18th in the nation."

We definitely showed that we belong in the company of great teams. We had UNI on the ropes big time, and just couldn't hold on to win. We were in the opposite position of where we have been earlier in the season -- we were the ones coming back from difficult situations. We started to tighten up when they started getting close. We were absolutely dominant up to the 16 point region in the first two sets of the UNI match. I think we just deflated after giving up that second set the way we did, but when we passed well, our offense was awesome. KSU got all they asked for from us. I think the girls were a little awestruck in the first set. The court is in a huge field house and they surrounded the court with bleachers. The fans are close to the floor, and their fans really turned out, and they were loud. The pep band and cheerleaders were there, and the place was rocking. Their fans made a lot of noise while we were serving, but they did not get personal. It was actually done well. We had the deer in the headlights look in set 1. In set 2, we kept it close all along and then we finished it off well, with good confidence. Lots of girls got some play time in this match, which will help us later on. It looked to me like we would win set 3, but we fell just a little short. Set 4 got started with several miscues and a strong run for KSU. We were reeling for most of the set, but we found some strength near the end and closed the gap enough to keep it from being really ugly. We stood toe-to-toe with some really good teams this weekend and proved that we have the capacity to win at this level if we add consistency to our capability.

That 3rd set (still cant get used to calling it that) was a matter of a 3 point difference, if we take that and then have a 2-1 set advantage, who knows.

Coach P said that KSU showed a lot of emotion throughout the game knowing the importance of every point.
