Projected Starters:
Roster:
Crawford was an unknown for many going into last year, and the coaching staff was very high on him during camp. He wasn’t a huge role in the passing scheme last year, but he will be very much a part of it this year. We need him to step up and be a solid #2 receiver for us. If he does our offense will not miss a beat from last year and may even be better.
I think Chris Summers is the wild card. He was very highly touted when he came after originally signing with Louisville. He’s a big kid with a small frame and he showed some promise in the spring game. He may end up not even being our 3rd wideout, but he will still get on the field as we go with 4 and 5 wide many times.
Matt Lambros and Eugene Rogers are two veteran wideouts. They give us some valuable leadership at the position, and I expect them to play a role in our 4 and 5 wide sets. However, the two freshman, Jimmy Eden and Steven Crawford, could take some time away from either Lambros or Rogers if Rocco thinks they are ready to go. Also, Danny Broggin may see time as a WR as well.
Aaron Hewlett and Mark Blakeney also have a chance at some PT.
Basically, the #3-5 receiver spots are still up for grab as far as I can tell. We were dangerous at receiver last year with 3 all-conference caliber players in WJ, BT, & DB. With our very potent running game and confident QB I expect DB & co to have another good year.
