We have Time Warner down here. They're more expensive than Comcast was up in Lynchburg for us. They did recently add a bunch of new HD channels. MHD is pretty cool: a combination of MTV VH1 and CMT which shows only music videos and concerts which is pretty cool. They wouldn't be my first choice as that would be Dish Network but they won't install it for our 3rd floor condo. They told me I'd have to hire an independent contractor to hook everything up for me since I'm not allowed to have it ground mounted according to our HOA. I'd really rather go with DirecTV if they'd ever decided to go with a free HD DVR like everybody else. I just can't see paying $200 for something cable or Dish would give me for free.

Our HD lineup is from 500-581.

I was put on hold when trying to call comcast the other day. I waited 25 min for someone to answer. When they picked up my cell phone dropped the call.

For those who have Comcast as their ISP, they have a new price level for those on a budget. Their "economy" broadband service only allows about 700 kbps downstream, but most servers can't support that kind of speed anyway. This service is only $24.95 per month when purchased with another Comcast service. I just downgraded from my $49 plan and it's working just fine.

Upload speed is the same as the $49 plan, I believe.

I've had a pretty good experience with Comcast. I think they are too expensive, but I've never had any problems with them. I'll have to look into the "budget" internet price. That would be cool to cut my internet bill in half!!

I envy you folks with internet. I would glady put up with their ridiculous customer service and slightly absurd prices.

I just spoke w/ comcast and she talked me out of the 24.95 a month. She said w/ my current comcast digital cable package, which is nothing fancy, it would still cost me 103 dollars a month, a savings of only 10 dollars.

So my question is, how much are you saving, or do you not have digital cable? I guess if I went to regular cable I could save more, but regular cable stinks. Anyway, I did talk her down to 93 dollars a month. So at least she knocked 20 dollars off.

I have a Digital/HD box, but I don't think I'm getting any digital channels (aside from HD).

Officially I subscribe to Broadcast Basic, DVR service and Basic High-Speed Internet. My bills have been running between $70 and $80 depending on late fees, so $20 will be a huge break for me.

Yep, and that's probably pretty rare too. Your actual speed depends on network traffic, mostly the server from which you're downloading. The more people connected to that server, the slower your downloads will be, and if that server doesn't have a very fast connection to begin with, you won't get anywhere near what you're capable of. I figure 700kbps will be fine most of the time, as I rarely reached that kind of speed even with a 6mbps connection.

Comcast just blocked Discovery HD Theatre and TNT HD from their basic HD service. This = suck. I still get the networks and PBS channels, as well as the ESPN/2 HD channels for free. I'm mostly disappointed about Discovery HD Theatre. I didn't watch it that often, but Sunrise Earth is pretty spectacular.

I'm looking into getting one of the package deals for Dish where it's satellite and then home phone/DSL through Verizon for a special price.

I'm pretty sure I would be paying more if I went with a dish. I pay less than $60 a month now with cable and internet.

I'm paying like $120 for Comcast cable/internet.

His may be a promotional thing.

it has got to be a promo thing because up until last month we had a promotion thing and were paying 66 bucks...if we would have kept cable I would've been paying close to 100 and we just couldn't justify that since we aren't really home that often to watch tv...and if i want to watch something i will download it...the only bad thing about it is when football season starts....

this is why i need a solid full time job....instead of 2 part time jobs that pay crap

our dish is $52 I think, and that is 3 rooms, 2 with DVR, and they charge $5 extra a month since I don't have a home phone line. our internet is $45, which includes $5 a month for modem rental. that was the best deal I could find. Comcast is not offered in my area by the way, the internet is through jet broadband
