Can anyone chime in on where to buy a home in the Raleigh area. Pretty flexible as to where I can live...looking to spend between 150-200 on a home... open to areas such as Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, Clayton, Knightdale, Wendell. North Raleigh and Wake Forest seemed like it was priced a little higher.

Any feedback would be great.
Thanks

PS Are there any ff that live in the area...when I move here we can carpool to games across the region of interest.

I'm not touching that last sentence with a 10-foot pole.

Come on all you North Carolinians help out our brother. Has the Triangle been hit hard buying the housing crisis?

I grew up in Zebulon which is right there with Knightdale & Wendell. Wake Forest is 20 minutes away down HWY 98.

Do you have a location for a job? That can make a difference in choosing where to live. Cary is absolutely ridiculous...buncha Yankees passing retarded laws about how long you can keep your garage door open, or what colors you can & can't paint your house.

The area towards Creedmoor is still doing well. Great location for a job in North Raleigh. Clayton continues to grow. They just raised property taxes in Wake County, so I would try to avoid that if you could. I had a Zebulon zip code, but I lived in Franklin county.

Zebulon-Wendell area is still reasonable & since they opened the new bypass, the commute to Raleigh isn't that bad anymore.

i lived in north raleigh in the leesville road area. very good schools if you have children. ITB...inside the beltline is very nice but very expensive. there are some neighborhoods north of north hills mall off of six forks road or falls of nesue rd that are nice too. older home but affordable. for your price range ytou may look at the spec home neighborhoods built by KB homes or Pulte homes. Blwall is right about the job situation. that can really dictate where you live. cary is very snobby with a lot of restrictions...one neighborhood you can only fly certain flags on your home......the US flag was not one of them. areas like knightdale, zebulon are growing and have some good value as does living in johnston county like clayton or fuquay-varina, but be prepared for a nice commute. PM me if you have more questions.

Lived in Raleigh for the last 30+ years and will be glad to help you. Can get you an excellent realtor if you need/want one. The others here are correct, where you work will maqke a difference. Will be happy to discuss carpooling to LU with you.

i would say it depends on how you feel about hippies and taxes. that whole area is east of me, but i would say apex is nice. its close to cary though, so i'm not sure if there are crazy hippies there. i think its in orange county, so you'll have to deal with taxes and at least a little government imposed junk. i know a guy on a farm in creedmoor, its further out of the city. i like it there. once again i don't know the taxes and government junk though, flameshaw or smooth would be better on that stuff

Just know they are pretty big, no personal experience. Don't think any of the "big guys" are real good any more. I bought from DH Horton, they were pretty good, but nothing extra special.
