OK - most the people on this list have played way more than 5 years. James being the exception. Are you telling me that James won't be in the Top 10 List when all is said and done anyway? The guy was Top 10 NBA in 10th grade when I was watching him on ESPN Prime Time.

The only one that I think that should break in is Kobe, but his stats don't look that great compared to all the other stars - so I don't know.

The other way I was going to do it was breakout the top leaders in each category of stats - Points, Rebounds, Assists, Etc. and then take the next top five 5. i believe if you are the career avg. leader in on category you should be mentioned in any conversation about the best. So then my top 10 would be:

I’m just saying averages don’t take into account quantity. If someone plays 20 years and averages 30 ppg that is more impressive than if someone plays 10 and averages 30 or even 32 or 33 IMHO.

Say what you will about Kobe but I don't see how he's not already one of the 10 greatest players of all time. Some people may not like him as a person or his attitude but we're not talking about who they are as people this is who they are on the court. At least that's what I thought we were ranking anyway. Kobe willed the Lakers to the finals this season before they just met up with a better team. Not to mention, Kobe is one of the best clutch performers of the last decade. Love him or hate him, this guy deserves to be in the top 10.

Some people may not like him as a person or his attitude but we're not talking about who they are as people this is who they are on the court. At least that's what I thought we were ranking anyway. Give me Jerry West every day of the week - he scores just as well (and would have been a better three point shooter had there had been a three point line), shoots better from the field and free throw stripe, rebounds better, and was a clearly more dominant player in an age where there were less teams and thus less teams with watered down talent. Plus, JWs attitude is light years better than AIs.
