I think this is the most interesting question. Because it could easily be 3 different people, depending on how things play out. Everybody else on the roster would be pushing it a bit.

You could say that about every statistical category because of all the change. We have 4 returnees, 4! That means there's 8 question marks and you never know how those question marks will blend in with the returners.

Looks like we need to reset this poll.

My vote goes to Sanders now. He will be our only true, pass-first point guard. Stephene is more of a combo, and right now Curry is more of a scorer who could play some point.

Sanders it is. The PG duties lay with him. With Holland gone and Lewis decomitting, we're really thin at the PG spot. It went from being probably our strongest position to our weakest in a span of 3 months.

I'm not sure I would say weak, just VERY YOUNG and VERY INEXPERIENCED.

Since you mentioned Holland, I wonder if there is any chance he will play now? Not that he can replace BJ, but he could lend some experience and leadership, and all reports are he is coming back to get his degree anyway.

I hope so. I'm a huge J. Holland fan.

That a very interesting point about Justin. It would be nice to keep him around, obviously not as a starter, but to have some experience at the point. He's a solid defender if nothing else.

I thought he was staying around next year to finish his degree, but wasn't on scholarship?

Does that mean as a student or student athlete?

I thought he was still going to be a member of the team if he wanted to be, but wouldn't be getting a scholarship. I could be wrong. It's happened plenty before.

If the one scholly doesnt get filled by the beginning of the season whos to say he doesnt get it? Hes been on the team for a good time now, and if its open(I think we have one more) why not give it to him?

You have to remember, we're likely losing one, maybe two.

Two isn't confirmed by any means, and there's no real burden of truth pointing towards two, but it could happen. The NCAA normally cuts more than one scholarship when they do. Indiana is in danger of losing two (link) and Hawaii one or two (link).

If you fall below a 925 on the APR, you can lose scholarships. If you fall below 900, you can have more serious penalties (post-season bans, etc). A 925 is the equivalent of 50% graduation rate. Our multi-year APR for 2005-2006 was 910. That puts us in the 30-40th percentile for men's basketball across the country. The three year average for all of men's basketball was 927 and we fall 17 points lower than that. The new APR comes out this month and will be the determining factor on what happens. It will be the four years from 03-04 to 06-07.
