Ok, now someone enlighten me on how to best use my $1200 on my new HDTV.
Gotta love how the plan designed to stimulate our economy is going to result in a heck of a lot of people buying products made in Japan.

Sony Bravia. 1080p. One of the best pictures I have seen even when the program is not in HD. You can get it for under 1200 right now. It was 2000 a few months ago. We got ours for around 1200.
What size will $1200 get me?

If you can be claimed as a dependent, you won't get one:

http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,, ... 81,00.html
Q: I know some people won’t get a stimulus payment. How do I know if I’m one of them?

A: You won’t get a stimulus payment in 2008, if any of the following apply to you:

-You don’t file a 2007 tax return.
-Your net income tax liability is zero and your qualifying income is less than $3,000. To determine your qualifying income, add together your wages, net self-employment income, nontaxable combat pay, Social Security benefits, certain Railroad Retirement benefits and certain veterans’ payments.
-You can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return (whether or not you actually are claimed as a dependent on someone else's return). For example, this would include a child or student who can be claimed on a parent’s return. [Updated 4/15/08]
-You do not have a valid Social Security Number.
-You are a nonresident alien.
-You file Form 1040NR or Form 1040NR-EZ, Form 1040PR or Form 1040SS for 2007.

It goes by whoever's SSN is listed first on the tax return.
Would you stop it already

If you filed on the same return, you'll get one check.

I'm sorry I neglected to mention the size of the TV. 40 inches. Sony is phasing out the 42 and 37 inchers and pushing the 40 inch from what I was told. I like the size though. It is definitely big enough.

All I know is that I got my Panasonic 50" plasma for 1399 and it has only gone UP in price. 42" is a decent size but hey GO BIG OR GO HOME.
I am debating putting another 50" in our newly finished basement aka MANLAND or putting that plus my tax return towards a new HVAC unit so that I have one controlling up stairs and one controlling MANLAND. Decisions Decisions....
OR spend it on Cheap wine and expensive hookers. Any one?

I was reading on another board that some people actually had their checks direct deposited today!

Haize...absolutely go with the cheap wine and expensive hookers...then you have no time for TV!

Is that what they're doing at Disney these days? Sounds good to me. I'll send you $2500 Western Union and I'll just need you to send me back $1000 cash. Sound good?

That's impressive. The deposits have probably been issued for the first round then, and the posting probably depends on each bank. Some work fast than others, and most banks only process these transactions on business days.

I'm in the first round of direct deposits, so I'm really hoping it will be there on Monday.
