Good coverage for me, at least. The places I go, it's fine.

For traveling cross-country, AT&T holds its own against Verizon. Sprint is a distant third. I had Sprint in 2001/02 and hated it. Dropped calls, roaming charges, etc. I've no complaints about AT&T, except that I lose service between Amherst and North Garden on Route 29. Verizon wins there.

I have no experience with AT&T but traditionally my Sprint coverage experience has been way behind my Verizon phones the past few years. I now only have Verizon phones (incidentally I can swap SIM cards for overseas trips) and my only complaint has been a crappy LG my wife got 6 months ago. She is on her 6th phone and it doesn't work either.

As for the phone, there are about to be a number of similar phones coming out with better features (trust me). But this phone appears to be a nice general use handset.

i've had different experiences....the past 3 years i've traveled all over the country with work....90% of the time with a cohort who had att.

when i had sprint he would have coverage when i would not....however since i've been with verizon we together have been to

northern arkansas, rural wisconsin, rural minnesota, rural kansas, rural oklahoma, and drove through texas. we've also been driving through indiana and michigan. i have had more coverage than him usually all the time... it drives him nuts...because he tried to get me to go to att. and i didn't because i told him i didn't think the coverage was as good...and he hates being wrong...

but those experiences are pretty much midwest experiences....i had sprint 6 years ago in lynchburg and it was probably the worst service/coverage i'd ever received...

My Sprint service has been decent. I'd have AT&T but one of the places they DON'T cover is pretty much where I live and work. Kinda pointless to have spotty service in my own house/driveway/commute. If Verizon was here I'd have gone with them long ago, but I've had no problems with Sprint. I have service everywhere I travel with few problems (service is spotty on the WV turnpike, for example).

Only complaint I ever had was the last time we got new phones, I was told on the phone that I'd get rebate coupons for the full price of the phones. Never happened. Nobody knows who told me that, and they wouldn't do anything.

That's a fairly common tactic for phone sales guys. If there are rebates, you should have the certificates before you leave the store. We've been burned ourselves.

I can tell you that my Verizon phones worked great dodging in and out of the valleys in your neck of the woods, Phoenix. No dropouts for me or my wife the last time we were up there. Speaking of which, I'm getting hungry for some Fred's strombolis and pizza breads right now. Argh!

You do know that Fred's is under new ownership/management, don't you? Food's still good, though -- but they're now open on Sundays. Maybe I should send you a care package.
