i know the majority of the people on here from the area don't care (AT ALL), but tickets did go on sale yesterday for West Side Story. i actually get to dance quite a bit, sing a little and do some speaking... so it should be somewhat entertaining. you can find ticket info here: https://www.liberty.edu/index.cfm?PID=2947

surprisingly or not, tickets do go fast.
WEST SIDE STORY

The world’s greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre’s finest accomplishments. Shakespeare's “Romeo and Juliet” is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the “American” Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Can't attend a dance (meaning a club). Nowhere does it say they can't dance.

We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine

Anyone around LU the last time they did West Side Story? I think it was around 2004. The lead male was singing to Maria who was on a balcony. He ran to the bottom of the balcony and was supposed to jump on the ladder (picture right foot on bottom rung of ladder while left foot/leg wraps around left side of ladder). His right foot slipped and well, let's just say he hit a high note that was not written into the original composition. It may be a you had to be there kind of moment, but its truly one of my funniest memories from LU. I remember it being talked about around campus for days after

Dude gets to dance with multiple girls throughout the show and you're pulling his man card? What's up with that?

Dudes lift cheerleaders in the air with their hands in the nether regions and get their man-cards pulled all the time. Same thing with Bryson...do the crime...do the time.

I honestly think id rather have the flu than be subjected to a Liberty play or an opera.

hey, i've done nothing but play sports my whole life. what's the harm in trying out something new? it's not like i'm prancing on my tip-toes around stage. it's an intense play, with lots of fighting, daggers, switchblades and rumbles. the dances are intense, not prissy-fied.

rocketfan, i can't deal with the opera, and i'm not really that huge a fan of the regular plays, but the musicals are fun to watch.

fumble, dealings in the nether regions is definitely not a crime in my book. however, male cheerleading is not for me.

I'm an arts geek, so I'm not saying anything against him. Operas are a no go by any means, as is the ballet, but musicals and plays can be entertaining.

I can't believe I just admitted that on here.

I'll say it. I like classical music and I like opera. And I bet you guys are too, you just don't know it. This is opera and so is this. Nothing against you top 40 junkies but there's a power and depth in that style of music that today's stuff isn't designed to express.

I enjoy nearly all genres of music/plays. Musicals are awesome, and operas and orchestras can be too.

If you ever plan on getting married, Super, you better get used to the Nutcracker or at least pretend that you like it.
