Washington, D.C. (January 31, 2008) -- As of now, there are only two Major League Baseball teams that will not be broadcast locally in High-Definition during the 2008 season:

The Baltimore Orioles and The Washington Nationals.

And what do the teams have in common?

The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), which has yet to launch a high-def network, has the local broadcast rights for both teams.

I figured this would only interest the baseball guys....but id love to see the football and basketball teams in HD someday soon.

A better question is "Will Comcast finally ad MASN in the Lynchburg area?" Other parts of VA have it, but not us. You know....the school that's actually in the Big South games they cover...

Comcast has competitive reasons why they don't want to play nice with MASN. The customers are the absolute last thing on Comcast's mind.

Adds 80 High Definition telecasts to 322-game Nationals and Orioles broadcast schedule

Expands on-location Nats Xtra and O’s Xtra pregame and postgame shows from Nationals Park and Camden Yards

For the second year in a row, MASN will televise every available Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles game on one network, and will begin broadcasting key match-ups in High-Definition during the 2008 season.

The 80 games in HD will be evenly split between the Nationals and Orioles and will include the first available home game for both teams. The Orioles host Tampa Bay on March 31 and the Nationals’ are at home April 7 against the Florida Marlins.

MASN’s HD schedule includes key match-ups with the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, and Braves, as well as the Phillies, Dodgers, Cubs, Cardinals, Marlins, and Rays. The network will provide HD telecasts for all six inter-league games between the Nationals and Orioles.
