I've been away for several hours, but that is a fair and astute question, and one which puts any and all of my credibility
on the line.
Here we go.
In the flesh, I could be tempted to want to see Randy vindicated through a poor season for LU, - but I have met a lot of the team, have done chapels for them, been complimented by them, and sat on the bench with them in games...
it would be completely wrong to wish them ill in any way. Then, there is RMK. I have never met him, but all he did was accept a position. (If your house is foreclosed, do you hate the next guy that buys it?) Again, pulling/praying against them is wrong.
Randy loves LU, he loved Dr. Falwell (who, apart from the apostles and the reformers, has done more spectacular things in a lifetime than Dr. Falwell ?? ..with the help of others..). Randy gave 14 years of his life to the program. I know how hard he worked. I was one who kept telling him while he was away at Marshalltown and New York that the best place for him was LU, and that LU was where God could use him in a special way. I am brokenhearted that the dream of his life has been shattered, and shattered by a man who is, in my opinion, a mercenary. (
http://www.2theadvocate.com/news/breaking/15819302.html... see if that website works) Mr. Barber does not have 1/100th of the heart for LU (in my opinion) that Randy Dunton does. Randy's job was history before the real season began --- October 17, 2006 letter ....to be posted if the leadership of this board so desires.
As much as I love Randy Dunton, those things bother me.
But I still love LU, and the program, and I rejoice in their victories. I have an 18 year old son, and if I could afford to, he would be at LU in the fall.
I hope that honestly answers what was a fair and pertinent question.
