You first say grm is out of line for saying go away. where are all the socalled personal attacks. where was all your decorum when you were part of attacking RD? Basically I and others see it as hypocrisy.

I gave a personal example of something that happened between me and Coach Dunton to represent why I didn't respect him and why I questioned his character. Unless you can give a personal experience of something that happened between you and Jeff Barber personally, a personal attack (calling him an ego maniac amongst other things) is out of line. If you can provide some proof and or person experience, then I'll let it go. Otherwise I'm not letting it go.

Let me set you up with two guys who JB lied too and it would be factual. And I got issues with you but you keep deleting them.

You can have all the issues with me you want but this is my board and I'll edit it how I feel it should be edited.

If those two people were to give me accounts, then sure, I'd listen. However, you're an absolute nobody who has had no experience whatsoever with Jeff Barber that can make you say those things. You're going on what your friends have told you.

No i have seen what he has done to people!!! the ministry is about People not image and ego!!

Edit: Yes, I edited the last part. I'm not letting that crap in this thread. You're lucky I didn't delete the entire post. Grow up and take your vendetta somewhere else. We've all moved on. If you post anything like that in here again, I'm deleting it and lobbying for you to get banned from the site.

Good job crying free speech on a private forum.

You win the ignorance award.

I don't care about this fight you guys are having at all, just that's a pretty stupid comment.

You think you two could take your little battle to PMs because airing it for all the world to see just looks bad.

I don't mind things being said in the general basketball forum. However, this forum, The LUnatic Locker, is for the biggest SUPPORTERS of the school. You're the biggest hater of the current basketball program and athletic administration. I told you from the get go that this thread was not going to attack anyone. If you keep things civil, like grm did, I'm fine with it. When you start attacking people is when I start deleting things. That's my prerogative as moderator of this board and president of the LUnatics. Whether you like it or not doesn't matter. I've warned you and laid down the ground rules multiple times. If you choose not to follow them, your posts will be deleted.

Hey that's one of the very few times I miss a spelling error in a post (I dont make them all that often anyway but the ones I do make I usually can catch). In any case, checkmate and SJ, you think this whole mess could have been dealt with over PMs instead of making it into a very public issue.

I am a huge supporter of LU, Dr Falwell, Jerry Jr and the vision. And have written many checks to back up my support. I am not a supporter of Jeff Barber for good reason. Of course you would not want to hear those. Go ask Ergun Caner what he thinks of JB? It is more than you think who are not in love with our new found direction. I hope we can win the championship just don't think we are playing systematically the way you need to do that. Call it hate I call it what I have seen work it all sports.

If you want to question the coaching from a basketball standpoint, I'm ok with that. If you want to criticize something Jeff Barber did, I'm ok with that. As people who work in a public position, that's what they set themselves up for. Just keep it on their work and not on their personal issues. That's all I ask. I'm perfectly fine with criticizing or questioning what someone does if you keep it on a professional level.

LUconn wrote:here's the big question: Will you root for and support a Duntonless Liberty basketball team? Or will you enjoy their failure? I think I know the answer to some posters, but you are a wildcard.
I've been away for several hours, but that is a fair and astute question, and one which puts any and all of my credibility
on the line.

Here we go.

In the flesh, I could be tempted to want to see Randy vindicated through a poor season for LU, - but I have met a lot of the team, have done chapels for them, been complimented by them, and sat on the bench with them in games...
it would be completely wrong to wish them ill in any way. Then, there is RMK. I have never met him, but all he did was accept a position. (If your house is foreclosed, do you hate the next guy that buys it?) Again, pulling/praying against them is wrong.

Randy loves LU, he loved Dr. Falwell (who, apart from the apostles and the reformers, has done more spectacular things in a lifetime than Dr. Falwell ?? ..with the help of others..). Randy gave 14 years of his life to the program. I know how hard he worked. I was one who kept telling him while he was away at Marshalltown and New York that the best place for him was LU, and that LU was where God could use him in a special way. I am brokenhearted that the dream of his life has been shattered, and shattered by a man who is, in my opinion, a mercenary. (http://www.2theadvocate.com/news/breaking/15819302.html... see if that website works) Mr. Barber does not have 1/100th of the heart for LU (in my opinion) that Randy Dunton does. Randy's job was history before the real season began --- October 17, 2006 letter ....to be posted if the leadership of this board so desires.

As much as I love Randy Dunton, those things bother me.

But I still love LU, and the program, and I rejoice in their victories. I have an 18 year old son, and if I could afford to, he would be at LU in the fall.

I hope that honestly answers what was a fair and pertinent question.

Mr. Barber has every right to pursue his career and interests... I post that simply to show that Randy's lifelong dream and ministry was terminated by a man who had not been here for a season, and who (apparently) does not care to be here for another season.

Again, I understand that these are my opinions, and that my relationships may affect these opinions.

Thank you, and God bless.

I'm not sure if it is off topic, but if I recall, someone was critical about RMK's offensive approach involving a lot of 3 point shooting, and I wanted to address that. IMHO, with the rules as they currently exist in college basketball, any coach who doesn't have his team shooting a lot of 3s and isn't recruiting to that end is an IDIOT!!

The 3 point line is ridiculously close, and it simply isn't that difficult a shot to make. In addition, simple geometry says it is easier to get open beyond the 3 point line, since there is more space out there for the defense to cover. Just look at how many teams shoot over 33% from 3 as opposed to shooting over 50% from 2 and you can see why shooting 3 pointers is sound strategy, and will continue to be so until the line is moved out at least to the international distance where it is a more difficult shot. I am not saying you shouldn't feed the post if you have a big man who can make a high % of his shots like Ace does. Not only is this effecient in itself, but it also helps the perimeter shooters get better looks. What I am saying is that playing team basketball in order to get either a high percentage shot from the post or a good look from 3 is always going to be more effective than just letting "star" players (no matter how athletic or talented) just create their own shot. Some of that is OK, (if you have the players) but it should not be emphasized.

The darkest era of basketball at LU was at least partly a result of a coach's decision to let go 2 teriffic shooters and bring in some more "athletic" players who couldn't shoot a lick. Bottom line is the object of the game is to put the ball in the basket, and unless you have a dunk or layup, it makes more sense to take the shots that are worth 3 points as opposed to 2.

It's not that long of a shot from the three, and the mathematics of your position are irrefutable. You just need the inside balance or the defenders will be in your shirt when you step over half-court.

inside game, outside game, taking the ball to the hoop off the dribble, and the pull-up all seem to be essential.
