The first contest of Super Tuesday is in and Huckabee has won the West Virgina Convention. Romney second and McCain a distant third. Huckabee gets 18 delgates if I am not mistaken.

Funny, Romney initially had this state. But in WV, you need a majority of the vote to win.

Round 1:
Romney 41%
Huck 33
McCain 16
Paul 10

Okay, so they drop Paul and vote again.

Round 2:
Huckabee 52%
Romney 47%
McCain 1%

Huckabee wins. Silly West Virginia.

There is speculation of a backdoor deal between McCain and Huck. McCain's Numbers dropped from 100+ to 12 in the second round most of those went to Huck giving him the win. This is certainly looking like it is going to be a McCain/Huckabee ticket for sure.

Huck making some noise tonight. I love to hear the MSNBC guys backpedal and bumble over thier positions from the past 2 weeks. I don't think he has a shot at winning the whole thing, but McCain would be smart to put him on the ticket. I've been thinking that since New Hampshire.

WOW! I love how everyone (but me) has counted Huckabee out and turned it into a McCain Romney race, but tonight Huck is making some noise. Huck now looks to have won not only WV, but won Arkansas, and leading in Alabama (Fox Projects him winning).
McCain: Ill, NJ, Conn
Romney: Only Mass.
More to come!
Go Huckabee!

This is no suprise. He was expected all along (or at least since Fred pulled out) to do well in the southern states since that is his "home." In order for him to really make some noise he needs to do very well in the north and west states. He doesn't need to win but in order to justify staying in after today he needs to at least pull a good percentage.

Huck won some southern states against a guy from Massachusetts and another guy who is on the wrong side of most issues important to Southern Republicans.

Let's not get too excited.

A certain former LU professor led the Huck efforts in the Wild & Wonderful state.

Look, I'm well aware that he probably will not win the nomination, but an important statement was made for the values oriented right anyway.

When Hillary is nominating Supreme Court justices, I guess we can take comfort in remembering Huck's primary victory in Alabama.

I think Rush is right, we're screwed.

I agree we are screwed either way! When McCain is the nominee for what used to be the Republican party - folks like me and you are officially citizens without a candidate. If Hillary, Obama, or McCain win - the libs win. The only difference is that Hillary and Obama will start in the deep end of liberalism and McCain would start in the shallow end and work his way left to the deep end. I am wracking my pea brain trying to think of a viable 3rd party tru conservative candidate, and there really isn't one. Bloomburg is no conservative, and Buchanan is a NUT! Our only hope is someone with HUGE Money backing someone like a George Allen (I said LIKE) for a third party, and it's not going to happen. So for me I am out on a limb and prepared to say that our 2 party system is broken. There are a ton of conservative voters who unfortunately split their vote between Romney and Huck. Those who think Fiscal conservatism is the key went with Romney and those who think social/values conservatism is more important went with Huck. So now after we beat our brains out, we're left with lib McCain. Great. It is broken and must be fixed quickly. My fear is that not enough Republicans are as outraged as I.

I don't think our two party system is broken. The founding fathers weren't idiots. The problem is the increasingly liberal society that we've created. The problem is that Republican primaries allow independants and democrats to vote. The problem is people believe everything the media feeds them. The problem is people have this idea that europe is more advanced and better than we are. There are lots of problems, but the two-party system isn't one of them.
