Saddam Hussein initially didn't think the U.S. would invade Iraq to destroy weapons of mass destruction, so he kept the fact that he had none a secret to prevent an Iranian invasion he believed could happen. The Iraqi dictator revealed this thinking to George Piro, the FBI agent assigned to interrogate him after his capture.

Piro, in his first television interview, relays this and other revelations to 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley this Sunday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

So, the fact that we sent several aircraft carriers and told him we were launching an invasion in 48 hours wasn't enough of a hint

See, I don't get that at all. If anything, since Saddam was doing everything in his power to convince the world that he had WMD's, this vindicates Bush to a great degree. In fact, further down in the article, Saddam confessed that he fully planned to restart his mass death programs. The whole "Bush lied, soldiers died" bit goes up in a puff of radioactive smoke.

I agree with the last post, it should vindicate Bush. But shouldn't it also be mentioned that Saddam had Weapons of Pretty Bad Destruction, and had used them? He had chemical weapons, which he used to destroy the population of that entire town back in the 1980s, which was the crime he was convicted (and hanged) for.
