Yeesh. That's what I get for actually paying attention when somebody tells me something.

I can only assume they determined the new site wasn't going to be actually ready already by yesterday.

I am sorry if you think I got a little bent out of shape in my post. I was mainly trying to be informative and explain why things are or how they are going to be. I was not upset because someone asked about game tracker. We aren't getting one in the new site.

However, there are two things I do want to clear up. First, no one in the SID department passed the buck to Kris as it was posted in this thread. You may have been joking, but if you knew how much was passed to them, you wouldn't think it funny. Also, the sports information department will talk with you anytime, so the Don't Call Me crack was out of line. Second, the attacks on the department on this site are unmerited because most of the time the person attacking doesn't even have their facts straight. It is okay to be critical and point out problems, but when you have people who are really working and making LU look good, you don't attack them which fsn backs me up on. If you have something to say fine, but most of the time it is presented in a nasty manner and is not right.

Finally, the timeliness thing, I am not defending one way. I am just telling you what direction things are going and it looks like next year, stories will not be posted until the next day. It was brought up about 90% posting for UVA, well the Liberty site for game stories is about 90% also. Football, both Basketballs, baseball, volleyball, etc. have all been posted the same day all year. The only sport that I know of that doesn't have things posted the same night is tennis and that is because either our coach or the other school when we are visitors didn't get the results to Ryan Bomberger.
Also, I was just telling why it doesn't happen. Rich Murray, the head guy at Virginia, has told me their office's policy is next day. In addition, they have six people plus a web site and publications person. So, to be honest with you, the web site is updated right now pretty much in a timely fashion.

CLOSE: you do make a good point about the updates. I noticed that this spring season, in particular- the site was updated late in the evening (I work several nites during the week and was able to get the updates shortly after they were posted)

I was pretty impressed- to give credit where it is due- because, as you alluded- many other schools were DAYS if not a WEEK or so behind on updating many of their sports.

Just try not to take anything personally- those of us NOT down there really are openminded enough that until a situation is presented to us, we normally remain supportive. And we alum write checks too- so you know we back LU athletics!

You guys in "SID" 8) are doing a good job- Keep the faith!

Ahem. I highly doubt this is because of any kind of IT problem. As I said before, departments are responsible for maintaining their own sites, not IT. We do a mighty fine job of hosting our websites, IMHO. :-P

You can kill two birds with one stone and have RD pay for a lunch and have the three parties get togethter to clear anything up. Now that is Policy!!

It is due to several glitches. It is really no one's fault.

Perhaps I should have used the term "web development" :D My objective was simply to point out not to blame the folks, when the unexpected happens. When I said it didn't surprise me, it was not meant as a slam, but rather as an understanding that even if you think everything is in place, Murphy's Law seems to always creep up.

FYI summed it up nicely
It is due to several glitches. It is really no one's fault.
I'll do anything I can to help make the new site successful, as it has not doubt been a massive project.

Obviously gearing up for the big change over tomorrow- no recent updates and some really screwy things popping up, as well as bad links/links missing.

Getting excited to see how its gonna look ('cause it doesn't take much to get us old hags fired up)

Looking at the new page, I see that there is a place to subscribe to the newsletter. I wonder if there will actually be one this go around as I subscribed last time and never received anything? Anyone know?

FFVA- can you R.click the address bar of the site (libertyflames?) and post it here- I'm wondering if my browser is storing the old version. I've emptied my cache but still loading the old site when I type it in.

It's not Liberty's fault. Once you upload a webpage it will take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to propagate on all the servers. In a lot of cases areas in the world will see the site first, i.e. it might come up first on the west coast and then take several more hours to see it on the West Coast. Make sure to clear your cache also, by deleting your temporary internet files, because it will try and grab the present files first - just hit refresh a couple of times.

I look forward to seeing it myself. I was a bit concerned with a launch date and time - that is really hard to do these days with these kind of things that are out of the control of designers.

I was able to upload the new site. It looks pretty sweet! There will be an online Flames store, but it is unavailable right now. I'm very excited about the new site because anything can beat the old one.

Funny thing is when that used to be done .....i wrote it lol( suprised you didn't get it, we have a huge list of e-mails to send it out to). Proto - would probably have some idea if sports info is in charge of it or not? Or who is leading it up now.
