Brought this up last year, but too lazy to search for it. Anyway, next month I'm going to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra in DC. For those who've never been to one of their concerts, I HIGHLY recommend going, its AMAZING. The lights, the music, the hotties on stage...its great.

My sister and her hubby are HUGE TSO fans. They go to their Christmas concert in Chicago every year. There is no question they put on a great show, although I personally have a hard time getting into the music itself. I don't think I'd pay for a CD, except maybe their Christmas stuff, which I'd put in a sort of change of pace niche with Mannheim Steamroller.

Few things annoy me as much as when someone compares TSO with Mannheim Steamroller. MS is awful, sorry. TSO pretty much does all Christmas stuff; as far as I know they've only released one non-Christmas CD (they've released at least three Christmas albums).

TSO's show is amazing; much, much better than TRBC's Christmas Tree spectacle (although that really isn't too hard to beat, I'll admit).

Actually, I wasn't comparing TSO to Steamroller in either quality or style. I just kind of catagorize them together because they both do traditional Christmas music in a non-traditional style. I'm sure my brother-in law would totally agree with you however.

Listen, I understand why some people don't enjoy her singing, but she has a truly unique gift, and could most definately have pursued a career in opera, but chose to minister through music instead. Believe me, for every flamefan that can't stand her, there are a dozen who are willing to ride the bus from Lancaster County PA just to hear her sing "O Holy Night."

And I'm willing to drive with two of my closest friends (along with thousands of others my age) 3 hours to hear Chris Caffery rock that same song on the electric guitar.

What really needs to happen with the Living Christmas Tree is finding a playwrite who can write a script like a few years back when Linda Nell Cooper wrote the storylines. Those were some good shows, even with Ms. Penn hitting the high C note.

I went through ticket master on the TSO website (www.trans-siberian.com). Just click on Current Tour and they'll have the links for tickets. After fees it was about $50 ($100 counting my friend). If I remember correctly, Richmond was a little cheaper when I went last year. Whatever you do, don't go through that little facebook flyer thing-those tix were well into $100 range for the same seats.

Chuckles is a very talented, if melodramatic, singer. He's not an actor, though. LCT has proven that if nothing else. What annoyed me the most about those things is how they would set up a storyline and then dump it as soon as the Christmas Tree was awakened.

Mrs Cooper has written some amazing original productions. I know she did Rebel Cry a couple years back and she wrote the production for a theater out in Tennessee and I think she has written a few other shows for the LU stage
