Ok, we have listed that we go to Savannah State and then Towson. The pocket schedules I saw this morning had Towson first, then SSU. What's up with that?

I just checked Towson's web site and it says the LU game is on the 16th, not the 23rd. Must have been a change ...

That's kinda weird but alright then.

Savannah State apparently had some flexibility in its schedule. They list the 16th as open now. Game appears to be on the 23rd.

Not happenin. He'll get 150, we'll be up, and then he'll sit on the bench with his feet propped up drinking Gatorade.

OK, either I'm an idiot (which is a distinct possibility) or there was a change between the original schedule I talked to Danny about and the finalized one that came out. I was under the impression it was Savannah first and Towson second. But I went back to the official release of the schedule press release, and it has it the other way around.

I hope that they just made a change, but if I made a mistake in the initial schedule, I apologize. That's sloppy ...

I can't remember if this was discussed when the schedule came out but did anybody notice the large number of afternoon games in comparison with the past couple of years? It seems as though when we have night games, attendance is far better. Did they forget about that? At least they were smart and put the late games earlier in the season.

That is because it is a tad on the chilly side later in the season. Therefore if it is an afternoon game, the thinking goes, the weather should be nicer and attendance up.

the best part of FB season is sitting on blankets w/ coffee and/or hot chocolate- you can see the players breath, and the ground is as hard as a rock.

thats football weather.

IMHO

That would be b/c you (Like myself) are from "The North". Down here in the south, it is cookouts, maybe a medium jacket and lots of ................................."Non LU approved beverages"

forgot myself for a minute. You're right (of course the turf at the Vet was always like a rock, even in July)

Generally, after mid-October, most I-AA games are played in the afternoon for varying reasons but mostly because of the temperature dropping. Personally, I like opening up w/ night games because I think it helps build some excitement but, after the first couple weekends, I say play as many day games as possible. Day games are a whole lot easier on players and staff mainly b/c you're not sitting around all day trying to maintain your focus on something that's not going to happen for another several hours.
As far as attendance goes, our biggest turnout in the last several years was last year's Homecoming game v VMI w/ 11K+ (announced anyway). That was a noon kickoff. I think night games are better for student turnout but day games are better for family and community turnout. Then, if you win a few, the students will turn out anyway.

You had one statement in there that was exactly right: Day games are better for families, night games are better for students.

With that being said, I love 2:30-3:30 games and I think that's the perfect time for games. Students still sleep to noon (you don't realize how many people say 12 is too early because they're sleeping. I'm not justifying it, just pointing out what they say) and then you can tailgate a couple hours, then have the game, and still have yor night to do stuff.

I agree SJ. Game times around 3 is perfect. Time for people to sleepin, come and tailgate if they want, or travel a couple hours without having to wake up too early.

Then it gives people time to travel back home without being out too late like the 7pm games.

I llike night games for the atmosphere but I HATE waiting around for them.

I like a few night games, but prefer the afternoon games for reasons already stated...still have your morning and evening to do things.
