Josh, if a certain someone who attended candidate development with us in DC heard your support for Obama, he'd probably throw out a few B words.. hahah

Realizing that there is no perfect candidate, I'm weary of Ron Paul because of the Iraq situation. I think if we immediately pull out, Iran becomes a bigger threat when they fill the power vacuum left by us.

I'm weary of Huckabee because (according to Scorcho's chart) he supports No Child Left Behind, Amnesty, the Minimum Waige Increase. And I don't think Huckabee is an active preacher... he's ordained, but I don't think he has a church. I actually kind of view that as a plus.

If any of them look good to me, personally, it's Tancredo, but since he doesn't have a shot, I'll probably vote for either Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee unless Gingrich runs.

Another GREAT point! Who cares what she believes, we need a women in power NOW! I remember in Liberty's "Brainwashing 101" (a required class for all freshman and transfer students) the #1 criteria for choosing a political candidate was that it MUST be a man. Even if this man has the principles and values of Hitler, he must be chosen before any women. I'm so glad that I have dirtied my mind back up after so many years of brainwashing. Stupid, stupid LU folks!
Are you kidding? How could you not care about what they believe? That may be the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

This govt was created for a moral people, and CANNOT be led by an immoral person(by which I mean with values conradicting those in the Bible)

I dont remember being told who to vote for in GNED. Is that just me or has someone else been a "victim of Brainwashing 101?"

I think that the post you are responding to was written with sarcasm, though it is hard to be certain of such things on the Internet.

I think someone's sarcasm meter isn't working properly... :P

I do disagree with you when you say that the government "CANNOT be led by an immoral person(by which I mean with values contradicting those in the Bible)". It has been led by non Christians before (the ultimate contradiction of scripture is denying Christ as your savior), and I believe will again be led in the future. Checks and balances help keep truly immoral people (Christians and non Christians alike) from destroying our country IMO.

Uh, when did our country get destroyed?? IMO we have had a couple of the most immoral presidents in our history over the past 50 years, and we still managed to make it through. I also wouldn't call Arnold the most moral guy either. Take a gander at old Youtube videos of him. He has some good ideas, but I wouldn't necessarily say he represents the morals of the Bible like you quoted above. That guy definitely has some immoral skeletons in his closet.

Again, I personally believe someone doesn't have to have the morals of the Bible to effectively run the government, anymore than I think the CEO of Starbucks must have the morals of the Bible. The government is a business and does not necessarily need a leader with Biblical morals for it to function well. I believe it helps, and without them there is a better chance at failure. That is why the founders of the Constitution put in place "checks and balances" to keep one man's immorality from destroying our country. At least as far as I can tell. What is destroyed in our country that I'm not seeing here?

okay....I never said anything about a president needing biblical values to be an effective/good president.....I was responding to the checks and balances system YOU mentioned you duech!!!

If a dem wins the election, they would more than certainly control the senate, house, and presidency!!! Checks and Balances mean nothing at that point.....so you are wrong!!! :D

Don't jump into someone else's argument if you don't agree with what they are saying. Especially using your "man crush" of Arnold as a basis for your argument (although he did look good in his Terminator movies).

What is your definition of checks and balances? Methinks a civics lesson is needed here. You failed to include what I believe is the most important part of government "check and balance) in your "I look so good" rant that would keep any branch of government/ political party from destroying the goverment as we know it.

Since, I spent a semester working in DC i know my civics and my government....I also know how it really works. I think a very good argument is that every last president (maybe reagan, he is my man crush) has hurt our country in one way or another....all spend way more than they should, and having 3 branches that all agree with each other does Eff up the checks and balances system you claim is so perfect......remember, don't argue with the big boys, they will only make fun of you

Thanks for the credentials. Again we are talking about "destroying" the country. Now remember I didn't spend a semester in DC, so I cannot be as great as you are in civics discussion, but the Supreme Court (part of the checks and balances) helps keep one party or another from "destroying" the country by upholding the constitution. Now whether it is perfect system or not, (of course I never said that, but oh well) we have a system that has run quite well for hundreds of years. That is why I don't worry about a president or political party "destroying" our country. If you want to look for the black helicopters, I can totally understand. With your "inside" knowledge of DC, I will just have to take your word for it that we are screwed.

After reading back through my responses on this thread to several people, I realized what a prick I've been. I'm sorry for coming off so condescending. I frequent a few message boards (a few secular) and have found myself using methods that are meant to tear people down, instead of bringing good debate. I sometimes get in the "I have to be right" mode.

To all those on the message board, I'm sorry and I will do my best to refrain from such responses in the future.

okay, whatever  "All is fair in love and war"

I do not get bothered by what other people say.......

anyway, i never said the country would be destroyed.....But the checks and balances do not work if all three branches are controlled by the same type....liberal-conservative----or myself (moderate)

I'm just trying to keep from fighting with you. I'm not sure if we have a love for one another and definitely do not want to go to war, so I am unsure of your "okay, whatever" statement.

By the way, what is a duech? I looked it up, and can't seem to find it anywhere. :?:

You disagreed with this statement of mine(you bolded it):
Checks and balances help keep truly immoral people (Christians and non Christians alike) from destroying our country IMO
Again what is it that you disagree with (as I have done a poor job trying to figure it out). Are you predicting that if the Democrats regain power in two branches, that we will be destoyed? I really don't see liberals taking over the Supreme Court anytime soon.

He's not a troll and I have corresponded with him by e-mail. He was a friend of Gary's and he is frustrated by the investigation. End of story.

If one of my friends from LU were murdered under mysterious circumstances I would probably be looking for others to join me in my quest for answers. So I suggest we cut him some slack.

I would have cut him some slack but I think his political views are completely seperate from that whole situtation, and he basically told us all that LU has brainwashed us. That's probably the most annoying thing I hear from outsiders. I dont want to have to hear that ignorance from alumn. It's disappointing. Plus he told me that sarcasm is the lowest form of humor. Says who? I think it's probably the funniest form out there. It takes wit and all sorts of other admirable qualities. It is somewhat insulting though, but if you can take a joke, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Yeah, we are talking about aspiano. Most of his posts were in relation to Gary Aldridge. He did have the one random political post.

He emailed me several times, and seemed like a nice guy. He just couldn't understand why people were making fun of his post. I often use sarcasm in my posts, but I'm trying not to use sarcasm as much with people who are new or don't know me. They often don't understand it and I am good at coming across as a jerk in my comments when I'm just trying to be funny and point out a nonsensical comment.

He wanted a one on one correspondence, and I told him I preferred the message board. I also told him that calling a whole bunch of people "biggots" on a message board tends to get some negative responses sent his way. I don't think he understood.
