The NCAA may have barred the door to its big-time football subdivision for now, but Jacksonville State officials said the Gamecocks are still going full-speed ahead with their study into moving up.
The NCAA on Friday announced an immediate four-year moratorium on accepting new Division I members and moves between its subdivisions - the Football Bowl Subdivision, the Football Championship Subdivision, Division II and Division III.
Jacksonville State's board of trustees formed a committee at its July meeting to study the feasibility of leaving the FCS, formerly known as Division I-AA, to play in the Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A).
