When UGA Played Coastal this year or when Florida plays Chuck South, their students showed up, i can go into numerous examples of this of when a school plays a no name team the student body shows up in force. We need the student body to step up and be consistent so we we can truly show the world that LU has a great fan base. Recruits look at this stuff. What does the coaching staff tell a recruit yesterday about the atmosphere?? well kid its a cold day and our students would rather sit in their dorm and watch a school they have never attended??? but when its warm its the best in FCS! We will never know if Richmond came to down that 16,000+ would be there...i would venture to say no, because i have been around a lot longer than you have and been around LU my entire life...im a semi old fart..and there was a time back in the Sam area that we were ranked and GA. Southern came to town ranked, and the weather was awful and the students did not show up. You need to understand that the students are the key to keep the atmosphere going in the right direction no matter who we play and they are also the key to the next expansion of the Bill. Though strides have been made with the baptist side the students are the key. Im done with this topic. we will have to agree to disagree. lets beat VMI!What don't you understand? We aren't Florida or Georgia. Why should we expect our students to not pull for those schools if that's where they came from. VT had no sincere student fans before they joined the Big-East. It's the same thing. There are only a handful of FCS schools that can sell out their stadium period. We should appreciate that we're in that category rather than complain about our students not showing up yesterday. I've been an LU fan my entire life too and if you really have, then you know that back then we didn't have this many people attending the school. We weren't investing anything into the football program in those days and LU itself was nearing bankruptcy. I know that the student side has to be better, my point is that it won't get better until we give them a reason to get better. They're going to start out as fairweather fans and turn into die-hard fans. That's how almost every fan starts out unless you're born into the team.
