So I don't go on the splash page much these days, but went on today and found this
wow...
On Friday, Nov. 14, at approximately 12:55 a.m., two freshman male students were walking near David’s Place en route to their dorm when they were struck by several shots fired from a pellet gun by individuals in a passing vehicle. One of the students was taken to the Emergency Room at Lynchburg General Hospital where a pellet was removed from beneath the skin of his forehead.https://www.liberty.edu/index.cfm?PID=5 ... On Saturday, Nov. 15, at approximately 2:22 a.m., LUPD apprehended five students in a Jeep near the Vines Center. At least one of the occupants had been shooting an Airsoft pistol at pedestrians on campus. LUPD is continuing the investigations of these incidents and has notified the Office of Student Conduct.
Reportedly, some students who are engaging in this dangerous conduct are calling it a game of “Tag.” The game is reportedly played both on campus and in the surrounding community. Students who play this “game” should know that they can be charged with “Brandishing a weapon” in violation of Virginia Code Section 18.2-282 which is a Class 1 Misdemeanor punishable by 12 months in jail and a fine of $2500. If someone is actually injured as occurred on Friday, the individual can be charged with malicious wounding in violation of Virginia Code Section 18.2-51, which is a Class 3 felony punishable by five to 20 years in the penitentiary and a fine of up to $100,000.
