Where were you guys? Only 2 students showed? Anyways, not like that's a big deal. The big deal is that people want the city to foot the bill to improve the pedestrian conditions on Wards (which I agree with), but the city has to figure out if it's one of their priorities.
Also, Lee Beaumont is cool:

Also, Lee Beaumont is cool:
LU, whose students are the primary motivation for the city study, noted it has already made plans to build vehicular and pedestrian tunnels connecting its campus to Wards Road at a combined cost of around $5 million. Finally, we're saying it publicly. And what the heck is this city's obsession with outside consultants? $30k to have someone look at the problem and make a recommendation? Are crosswalks and sidewalks one of those new-fangled inventions much in the way of traffic circles? I realize the Lynchburg is a civic-engineeringly-challenged place, just looking at its overall layout, but this gets to be a bit much. Hey dude, we'll give you $30,000 if you can tell us if this road could use better crossing options, even though we already know the answer.
The school also plans to improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities on campus.
“We feel we are doing our part,” said director of auxiliary services Lee Beaumont, adding that merchants and the city also benefit from improving Wards Road.
“It would be really good to have a wide partnership on this,” he said. “It can’t just be Liberty always being the catalyst to go, go, go.”
