Somebody who knows things told me that it's gonna be turned into a "bed and breakfast" that's not open to the public. I'm assuming that it will be for speakers and other fancy pants guests that LU has. And it will keep the office as is. I wonder what the minimum donation to LU is for an alumnus to be able to stay in there.

There are those who know this situation far better than I, but I believe they are only going to have a room or two in the mansion for that purpose. I've heard speculation about moving the museum from DeMoss up to the mansion.

Which would make a lot of sense... it would allow the Visitor's Center, who is crammed back in the corner, to expand to both sides.

i think putting it in the mansion is a good idea. then people could see his office, and the space in DeMoss could be used for something else. it would get visitors still, I bet all the alums when they came on campus would go up there. it'd be right at his grave too. it'd all be there together, i think its a good location

well I agree and disagree...as of right now I'm not hearing much about making the mansion into a museum although LUconn is correct with his original post...but dont let the foot traffic that walks BY the current museum confuse you for actually visitors....thousands and thousands walk by the door of the current museum while under 50 walk in and actually visit....I think the mansion would be very good for visitors, parking will be better and it's where JF's office is...we'll see everything is still in the beginning stages

Mansion makeover

posted on Thursday, January 31, 2008 | in General News

Renovation has started on Montview, known around Liberty University as "The Mansion."

Most recently used as office space (the late Dr. Jerry Falwell's office is there), some rooms are now undergoing restoration. There are plans to restore the house to the way it was in the 1920s, when it was home to U.S. Sen. Carter Glass.
