Is everyone ready for the NFL to go boom next week? The blatant collusion, the dishing out of salary cap penalties the night before FA without any rules violated, the coercion of the NFLPA (without a vote), and the stupidity of having the decision made by a committee headed by a division rival of the only two teams punished is mind boggling. Are the old boys in the NFL really that clueless about what they can legally do? I've heard one suggestion that lends itself to the Redskins seeking subpoenas of Goodell and Mara in NY, and Smith in VA, requiring them to provide all written communications on the subject.

How anybody involved with the other 30 teams, the NFLPA, and the league office thought it was wise to go after the 2 most profitable/valuable franchises (one of which has sued a grandmother recently) is beyond me. I have a feeling the league will cave, but this good fundamentally alter the league if they're arrogant/stupid enough to think they can win this in court.

Subpoena if you'd like, but I bet all communication was made with the mindset of "this could be made public at some point"

As if there was ever any doubt that Jerr-uh would be all lawyered up.

For the record, the Texans stand second only to the Cowboys in profitability and yet they didn't feel compelled to act like the 'Pokes & 'Skins.

Act like what? 9 teams restructured contracts that put them either over the imaginary salary cap or under the imaginary salary floor. There's nothing in writing that even hinted at potential penalties and all contracts were approved. The 2 most valuable franchises in the league showed why they are by being smarter than everyone else and refusing to participate in collusion. The other 30 teams got mad about it and a committee, headed by the President of a division rival, threatened the NFLPA with lowering the cap to ensure they would not file collusion charges and waited until the evening before FA started to levy penalties that are completely outside of the previous and current CBAs.

The Redskins and the Illegal Immigrant America's Team did nothing wrong.

Snyder has sued a grandmother and sued a journalist in the last few years. He'll sue everybody in sight, and win, just to feed his Little Man Syndrome.
