"Roy Williams said he made a “mistake” when he approved gifts to graduating players and others who had used up their eligibility while coach at Kansas, but denied there was any intentional wrongdoing.
The violations, which Kansas reported to the NCAA last month, were among several involving three programs, ending in 2003. The school responded to violations in the football and women’s basketball programs by reducing scholarships, but the men’s basketball violation will be addressed through extra education about the rules regarding gifts.
No other sanctions against the program are planned."

"The basketball violations involving one booster took place from 2002 through 2005.
During that time the booster (cited in the report as "representative 1") provided cash, transportation, clothing and other benefits totaling more than $5,000 to two men's basketball student-athletes.
More than $4,500 in benefits was given to one student-athlete, his Amateur Athletics Union (AAU) coach and his family members, whom the booster befriended while the student-athlete was still in high school. The other student-athlete received benefits from the booster totaling approximately $450.
In its public report, the committee noted that it is "particularly troubled" by the booster transporting the student-athlete and his AAU coach to the 2004 Division I Men's Basketball Championship Regional Semi-Final and Regional Final contests. The distance was more than 1,000 miles and the booster paid for all transportation, lodging and meals for the student-athlete, as well as transportation costs for the AAU coach."
(Notes:
2004 was the first year of the Self era in Lawrence. The KU player who got $4,500 was Darnell Jackson, who was a freshman in 2004-2005.)

"No penalty for Roy: Gene Marsh, chair of the infractions committee, said there was no thought of now penalizing former KU coach Roy Williams for approving small cash gifts to graduating seniors."
The truth is that KU, once they realized that basketball was in trouble for what happened under Self, included already known and concluded issues that occurred under Roy so that they'd have a public scapegoat once the penalties came down.
Now lynchburgwildcats, are you the LC student whom my sister caught cheating on a Western Civ test in 2009? I wouldn't be surprised. You seem to do a lot of revisionist history, so it would seem to fit.
Also, the NCAA has not investigated UK since Calipari has been at the helm. If I were a betting man, and used past history and logic in my conclusions, I would be willing to wager that UK will end up being punished just like Memphis and Umass.
Also, I don't "no" more about the history of Kentucky basketball than you. I am happy you decided to stick to one of the other local schools instead of harming Liberty.
