I'm still sitting in Bush Intercontinental hoping to have a flight leave for O'Hare sometime today. What is the deal in Chitown that has them delaying all incoming flights today. You would think they would be used to some winter weather in February.

I've now gone from anticipating an evening dining at Giordanos to eating a 2-piece with biscuit at Popeyes here in the terminal.

Come on you Chicagolanders, what is the deal?

PS - These delays now mean I'll likely be in the air during tonight's game. Boooooo!

ohare is one of the worst airports in the world....don't be surprised to not have a gate when you land and you sit there for 45 minutes...

ORD is easily my least favorite airport for a zillion reasons. But this weather stopping me from getting off the ground is not normal from my experience.

I have sat on the tarmac there for as many as a couple of hours. But I have a feeling Midway wouldn't have been any better today.

Has the storm cleared out yet? Radar isn't much help right now.

Ahh, the checkerboard floor of the main terminal at ORD. Memories.

Sly, it looks like things are just about over with on the north side of town. Say hi to Steve Bartman for me.

yes. we have had blue skys much of the afternoon here west of chicago...ohare is currently vfr but south bend was at 0 visability at 2. which means no clouds and its forcast 6 hours from now is 2000 foot ceilings so there should be no issues as of now...

I finally arrived here and was quickly reminded why I have no interest in living anywhere up north ever again.

O'hare and Midway are completely different, and it makes no sense, they will get the same weather, and have different results. I was flying from Pittsburgh to Midway this summer while visiting my ex, and saw every O'Hare flight delayed or canceled because of a bad storm, but my flight into midway was right on time. I remember this because we were both ticked I couldnt spend more time there.

Always fly into Midway if your going to chicago, always. Its usually cheaper as well.

But to fly into Midway I would have to fly out of Hobby in Houston. That's not happening unless all other options are spent.

I dont know then, its just every experience I have ever had with O'hare has been trouble. Last time my brother and his wife flew in, they came into Ohare, and landed and sat on the tarmac for 45 minutes, they had already landed, couldnt get off the plane. It was ridiculous. Then taking them back to fly home, their flight was delayed.

Also, Southwest has some amazing deals, Im not sure about from Houston, but I know that for me to fly from Midway to D.C. for school its like 60 bucks each way as opposed to about 200 each way from Ohare to D.C.

But you have made it clear you dont want to fly out of Houston Hobby, so this is probably all meaningless haha.
Another option is Milwaukee, they have a Metra from the airport there to Union Station Im pretty sure.

Southwest's national hub is Hobby. Hence my lack of flights into Midway from Houston. But I digress ...

Everything appears to be back on schedule for me today as I sit in the Continental terminal. Then again, I count on nothing until the tires stop touching the ground.
