From our computer screen in Oregon, it looked like the girls had a "we're going to win this thing" attitude going on. Wade called us the gym during time outs and said they looked very confident, even when behind.
I like how we won today - showing our athletic ability and talent. I like our vib on the court - very mature and ready to close games from 20+.
For those of you who could not be there last night when we took Asheville in 3. It was a loud rowdy crowd on both sides of the court. The Flames were very business like even when down by a few points. You could tell they have been in this atmosphere before and it showed on the court. They brought their A-Game last night and sent a message by winning in 3. The rowdy home crowd was quiet by the middle of set 3.
Today at 2 p.m. we finish strong and win the Big South Championship !
Congratulations to every member of the team - your hard work has punched your ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
Congratulations to the coaches and support staff - your leadership and care really paid off.
Now it's time to enjoy the moment and give thanks to the Lord for a successful season.
Go Libery Volleyball.
PS - New prayers can start now for post season play. :>)
Wow! What a great tournament for the Flames. The ladies had a mindset that losing was not an option. We never gave G-W a chance, and then when it seemed that Asheville had the first set of the second match clearly in their clutches, we ripped it away from them and never let up after that. Coastal came in fired up, but we were up to the test. Because so many people expected certain victory for us, the ladies could have folded under the pressure of concern about failure to meet expectations when we trailed CCU during the match, but they showed great resolve and pulled out a tremendous victory. Kallie was great floor general and really worked hard to keep the ladies focused on the mission and staying positive in the face of CCU runs. Karyl was consistently great throughout. Chelaine and Ashley were awesome in the middle and Nicki and Jess came through with critical plays just when they were needed. Kelly didn't look like a freshman out there. She was as cool as any veteran and made some really nice saves. The fans were loud and positive for our team. It was a great experience.
Now we need to carry over that hustle and momentum to the NCAAs.
