We have a ways to go in our "Spring Game". I understand the mindset of the coaching staff but people came to see a game. Penn State had 72,000 at their "game". I'd like us to get @ 10K at some point especially when the junior prospects are in attendance.

Newman started working there at the beginning of spring. Gill said he was experimenting. Clearly, wherever they need more depth, they'll use him this year. I think they're trying to find ways to get him on the field.

Spring game comments:

I can sume it up in one word: boring.

I actually fell asleep during the game in first half.

LU should make it more of an event. I thought attendance was down from previous springs. It was advertised to begin at 2 p.m. However it did not start until about 2:45. No one I talked with knew the reason for the delay.

I doubt if I'll attend another spring game of one hand touch. I understand the reason, but a tweak is needed. Not to mention the refs having a very quick whistle.

The Yard Sale of LU attire was poorly organized. They need a larger space for it, to eliminate the long slow moving line. The way it was organized and laid out, people could not really see what all was being offered for sale. Many of those in line thought they were at Walmart picking thru the items, holding up the line in the process. People should be able to walk in, select their items, pay for them and leave, without waiting in line an unreasonable time.

Chippy, a couple football guys told me it'll probably be permanent. Apparently Nick was having to "starve himself" to keep a safety's body, so they are letting him go a bit and transitioning him to LB.

this part cracked me up:
PRESBYTERIAN

• Per usual, no one really covers the PC program, and finding any relevant information on the Blue Hose is difficult. Here’s a report from PC’s sports information department that appeared in the Clinton Chronicle.
things seem bad down there

When we signed Newman, I remember one of the coaches saying he could even end up as a defensive end before his career is over. He's a legit 6'4" and has the frame to be at least 250 if that's where he wants to go. Personally, I don't think his weight should determine the position he plays. If he's 230 and can still move well enough to do what a safety needs to do in our defense, I think you can play him there. It all depends on where we need him.
