Now let's discuss Bluffwalk...

...Haha kidding. This would be a good example of a partnership created by the current administration

I know Liberty students and faculty love the GLTC service, so I'm glad LU is looking to keep it going, but there has to come a time when rising costs make is foolish to continue a business relationship with them. If the costs have indeed risen as much as Jerry Jr. have stated, then why should they keep the relationship when they can do it cheaper themselves? It would be a reduction of service, but an "80% increase since 2008 and 12% in the past 2 weeks" is a ridiculous price hike over the past 4 years. I don't know why they have nearly doubled in price since 2008, but it sure sounds to me like the GLTC is putting the screws to Liberty.

I really don't see how anyone can be critical of Liberty's stance in this issue. From simply a business standpoint, even with the rise in cost of oil, that is simply a CRAZY increase. Hopefully GLTC comes to their senses.

Or it could be it was discovered to be expensive to run their own then originally thought?

I still vote for a People Mover ala West Virginia :D

I think that GLTC also provides a better service than what LU would provide for itself, although at a higher cost. I don't think that it is a bad idea to hold GLTC to some standards in regards to pricing and it would be better for both parties to have a longer contract... and a new management team.

I was just wondering where belcherboy has been. I think we might actually know one another. Do you have a sister, belcher?

Nobody wants a bunch of coal cars riding on a rail around LU's campus. Keep that in Morgantown.

Thanks!! I really do love it here, but I find myself too busy for message boards the past year or so. I did get married last May, so that probably has a lot to do with it. :P

I do have a sister. She played softball at Liberty for 4 years in the mid to late 90's.

LU sticking with embattled GLTC bus service for another year

Liberty University will stick with the Greater Lynchburg Transit Company for another year, giving it a chance to sort out its management woes, said Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr.

Falwell said the school already canceled an order of new buses it was planning to use to launch an in-house transit service next year.

“We’re giving them another year and, hopefully, the new management they’re looking for will solve these efficiency and management problems they’ve been having,” he said Tuesday. “I hope that happens, because we don’t want to be in the bus business.”
