so apple is hailing it's new copy and paste feature as a "pretty incredible thing." don't they realize this is 2009 and not the late 90s?

Yeah, I'm guessing you haven't copied and pasted from a website on the iPhone. It IS a pretty incredible thing.

Are you trying to set it up as a Microsoft Exchange account? That's what it should be (and it gains you some nifty features over other mail accounts too!).

Settings should be as follows...

Email: yourusername@liberty.edu

Server: webmail.liberty.edu

Domain: university.liberty.edu

Username: yourusername

Use SSL should be set to "ON"

Hope that helps.

it's a pretty incredible technology if we're talking in terms of the 1990s. It's a run-of-the-mill expected feature from day one in late 2000s terms. Windows users have been able to do it since the DOS era on computers, don't get why it was so difficult to implement it took two years for Apple to do it on the iPhone.

You completely ignored what I said and just repeated the same thing you said before.

Way to go.

oh no i read it. i have used it. but that's not the point. its copy and paste. copy and paste is not an incredible thing. it's a nice feature, but not incredible. incredible in my opinion has to be something new and innovating - copy and paste hasn't been new and innovating since the late 70's and early 80's - basically, it's right at 30 years old and has been in other phones for years now. if you consider the iPhone finally adding a feature that's been around for a long while, then it's incredible, but I don't see that as incredible.

Is three a video demonstration of it somewhere? I don't have the imagination to be able to visualize a cut and paste other than what I have which is pretty basic. Like in windows.

meh, it doesn't seem all that innovative. It's just like windows. Double click on a word if you want it highlighted to copy. Drag the highlight if you want more. The only difference is the dragging starts after your initial double click.

On my BB I have a cursor and i click it where I want the highlighting to start and then click it again when I want it to end. Or you can do it backwards. Then press the BB button then select copy. Not saying that's any better or worse but they both get the same thing done.

Exactly my point. if the iPhone C&P is incredible, then it is on a BB as well.

If it were just basic copy and pasting of text, I would agree with you. I find neither the way it's done nor plain copy and past to be all that impressive.

However, if you'd read AND comprehended my original statement like you said you did, you'd see that I was pointing out the copy/paste function on the iPhone is fairly innovative for the way it copies HTML. If you go to a website and highlight a particular division (that is, a section inside of a set of DIV html tags), the iPhone will copy the entire thing. Not just the text. The formatting, the pictures, the associated files...everything. You can then paste that right into an email and it works. It's not all jumbly and malformed. It actually works.

Sure, you can do that on a Mac and Windows tries to do it well. But on a phone? On the iPhone, yes.

I love how this is still being talked about.

Scorchy is right though. I cant think of another phone that can copy and paste HTML. I didnt know that is what it did....that's pretty impressive

you might be able to find something better on the transmitter. Although I've found that most of them suck and are all staticy

I've heard that, but it's the only way for me to go as my car doesn't have a cassette player or auxiliary (sp?) jack. I was also hoping to be able to get one that does both (charge and play).

T.J. Maxx and Ross are two good places to get one for cheap. My wife bought a Griffin transmitter that charges for $15 at TJ Maxx.

That transmitter I posted has a charging port in the bottom. So you can plug it in and then the charger.

Any way you could wire one in? Seriously. It's worth the effort over an FM transmitter.
