On my BB I have a cursor and i click it where I want the highlighting to start and then click it again when I want it to end. Or you can do it backwards. Then press the BB button then select copy. Not saying that's any better or worse but they both get the same thing done.

I find neither the way it's done nor plain copy and past to be all that impressive.
