What others say: Giddens is a 6-4 high jumper, can run 4.6 in the 40, and schools like him because of his athleticism. He also showed during drills that he's a good cover man from his linebacker position.
Being recruited by: Purdue, Maryland, Rutgers, Liberty, James Madison, N.C. State and ECU.
"He's a kid who has worked hard in the offseason and his stock has shot up quite a bit. There are a lot of schools interested in him."
What do they most like about him? "He's a big, strong physical kid" who will line up at tight end for Maury this season because he is also "athletic enough and long and lanky enough to get down the field."
Sounds like a great pick-up! Hopefully he will end up signing on the dotted line. If he does end up in an LU uni, then our core of LB's look pretty good for the next several years.
We haven't signed him yet. As our friend Lib always used to point out, verbal commitments mean nothing. To which I would generally counter that they do mean that the student considers us a strong choice. This early in the process there remains the possibility that he could back out somewhere along the line if his dream I-A school comes offering. But these days those dream I-A schools are locking up their commitments earlier and earlier making the picture more clearer for I-AA schools like us. It was a completely different story just 5-6 years ago when most I-A prospects were waiting until they took all 5 of their official visits before making a selection after their senior season.

The 6-foot-2, 210 pound backer reminds Coach Cotton of ECU's Spence. "He's a kid who has worked hard in the offseason and his stock has shot up quite a bit," said Cotton in an April interview with VirginiaPreps, "He's a big, strong physical kid."
