Why is it such big news that bottled water is from the tap? They purify it. My kids drink tons of it....I'm still buying it!

They just put it in a bottle right out of the public water service wherever the bottling company is. It's news because people pay a ton of money for bottled water under the assumption that it's somehow better than tap, when they could just stick it under the tap and save quite a bit.

They do reverse osmosis to it to purify it. I'm doing my little part for the economy by buying bottled water!

And yes, I've done the taste tests and I've always been able to tell what was Aquafina, what was Lynchburg or what was both.Again, have you ever used a Brita filter? Takes all of the taste out of any water. Besides, I think most people are tasting the crud in their own water lines, and not the municipal water when they say it has a taste. You all can keep paying more for water than you pay for gas if you want, but I prefer to keep my money in my wallet whenever possible.
Plus, they put fluoride and stuff in municipal water...last time I checked you're supposed to call the poison control center if you swallow it.

Nothing in it. Water is water and it serves to hydrate your body. Nothing more nothing less. If you are getting any nutrition out of your water its probably because you swallowed a bug.

I'll buy them becasue they taste better and I do believe they have been purified better than most tap waters. If you have a filter and you still have any taste in your water, you need a new filtering system. That ain't right.
kel varson wrote:So you people who think everyone is getting scammed by buying this stuff are just wrong. Its a much needed commodity in some parts of the country.A whole-house reverse osmosis filtration system would be cheaper than regularly buying bottled water. It's a rip-off. When you're paying more for water than you are oil imported from the middle east and then refined into fuel, something is really wrong.

I agree that some locations such as NY City and Salt Lake City have delicious tap water, but here in Northern Virginia where my water comes from Quaries and the Shenandoah River, I'll stick with buying water that doesn't taste like it came from a swimming pool.
My water is so bad I'm considering buying a filter for my shower. I was just at a hotel and washed my hair and couldn't believe the difference.
So you people who think everyone is getting scammed by buying this stuff are just wrong. Its a much needed commodity in some parts of the country.
