Sure you could look in the newspaper for local stuff. But If I want to move to Provincetown, RI would I just randomly send resumes to any company I could think of based in that town and hope that they had something available? Nowadays I just go to the company I think I might like to work for and look at their careers page. Or monster/careerbuilder sometimes.

That is exactly how I find my jobs. I am on the market right now looking for my next gig here in Richmond. Haven't ruled out DC either. I get calls from recruiters as far away as California about jobs here in Richmond and DC. It does make it a lot nicer to look for work that is for sure. I would hate to put on a suit and walk up and down the street and drive around leaving my expensive copies of my resume to some administrative assistant. I say expensive because back in the day getting a resume done professionally was expensive and people didn't have home computers to make multiple copies inexpensively. Times have changed.
