Looks like Jimmy doesn't understand that electrical and software engineers don't build buildings.

Looks like Jimmy won't be getting into our engineering program.

Sones hopes to soon employ an architect to design the buildings the school will need.
ummm, couldn't they start a Mechanical Engineering degree program to let them design their OWN building? that should be worth a "B" at least. Unless it collapses. Then, definitely a fail.

Anyone know if they will be offering the Engineering faculty tenure-track positions? I think the only program where faculty can currently earn tenure is in the law school. Perhaps the University will have to expand tenure lines to attract the faculty they need to teach all of the fine young Champions that are on their way to the Mountain.

Surely they will seek to expand in the future as the school gets its legs under it to include architecture, structural engineering, no? (genuine question.)

Surely there are christians who will want to go into the aforementioned engineering disciplines...plus, wouldn't it be a boon for the missionaries serving in developing countries to have access to bring a christian engineer to help build the infrastructure, hospitals, schools, churches, etc. in said locale. Further, it provides an opportunity for a christian engineer who is mission-minded to go to these places themselves utilizing their skills to help those in need. For example, they could use their skill as a tentmaker opportunity akin to Paul while meeting a practical physical need of those folks similarly to how JC often met the physical need of the masses (and individuals) before revealing his message and giving folks a chance to decide yea or nay to follow him?

Obviously, christians who attend other schools can just as well do the aforementioned, but having LU pumping out engineering professionals opens the option for synergy or partnerships formed between students who are in the engineering program and others who are in the missions programs. Or better yet, Engineering students who may fill some of their electives with or double major with the missions programs (if that's possible with the rigorous nature that an engineering track would require.)

“My hope and prayer is that we’ll be able to find the funding to build a stand-alone building in the future,” Sones said.

Possible circle dorm location as a new building could provide a great visual from the highway...(although it would be a bus ride across campus to the testing facility...)

Falwell wanted a law school. Done. An engineering school. Done. And a medical school and graduate school of business, both of which will be several years and several large donors away.

For Medic....Anschutz anyone, I think that would qualify as a large donor, no? (As an evangelical Presbyterian, it would be a shame for the Blue Hose to scoop the Flames on that Donor. Gotta pitch LU's national prominence potential over that of the ascending PC)
